Chapter 8

Stefan Salvatore POV – Mystic Grill

        It has been half a year since Solar died and the Cullens had moved in with the Mikealson's. It has also, been half a year since my alcoholism had started. Well, I wasn't really an alcoholic like my brother unless you count me being at the Mystic Grill drinking a bottle or two of whiskey. I didn't mind the drinking part if it erases the memory of the beautiful brunette girl who cursed my mind. Solar, was the one and only person that could understand me when others could not. Especially, when I had turned off my humanity and after Elena had left me for my brother. And when she died, I've never felt so alone. Emotionally. Physically, I was sitting at one of the Grill's dinner table with my brother and our friends. While they were talking about some trip they were going on this weekend I was dulling their voices with the cup of whiskey in hand. As I was about to take another sip the buzzing conversation between everyone stopped.

Gently, I put my glass down and looked at everyone who was looking at one single direction. "What are you guys looking at?", I asked.
"It seems that Cullen boy has found someone new to snuggle up to", said Damon. I turned around in the same direction to see that the "Cullen" they were talking about was, Edward. And indeed, he was with someone new, sitting across from him at a dining table across the room. I couldn't see the girl's face due to the face that her back was facing towards us. But what I could see was that she was slim in figure and long blonde hair. And it didn't take a vampire's hearing or sight to see that the two 'lovebirds' were enjoying each other company. It was the first time in months seeing, Edward doing something other than, sulking around. Like he was eternally eating lemons since, the whole Bella incident.

"He doesn't deserve to be happy", said Bonnie.
"You're right. He should be suffering for all of eternity", said Caroline.
"Come on guys, don't you think he has been through enough? I mean it's been half a year already. He deserves to have some happiness", said Elena optimistically.
"Even if, that were true Elena. Edward did is a complete and utter sin to our kind. As a human you would understand how heavy of a crime for abandoning a mate is", I said plainly.
She pouted. "It doesn't matter if I'm human and doesn't completely understand the world vampires, Stef. Edward has human emotions like the rest of us humans. And if, meeting someone new to move on from what happened last year then, so be it. Just because you are immortal doesn't mean everything human is off-limits. No matter what the sin is", she said back.

I scoffed at her and her optimism which, made her look at me critically. "What do you know, Elena you're not a vampire. You don't know what it means to have a soulmate neither do you know what it means to lose one. What, Edward did to, Solar was unforgivable. The fact that he is with some blonde chick and smiling like he just won the lottery is like dancing on her grave. you know no-" my small speech was cut off when Bonnie elbowed me in the ribs.
"What is it?", I asked.
"She looks exactly like her", she said in a state of surprise and a bit of confusion.
"Who, Bon?", I asked again.
"It's Solar!", she said. Pointing out to the blonde girl that, Edward was with. She was getting up from her seat and walking towards the bathroom. The moment that girl had looked in our general direction my lungs stopped breathing. The girl, that I had been talking about a minute before, looked exactly like my friend. Down to the very dimple when she smiled.

Delilah POV

        Things here in Mystic Falls, are much different than the world outside of this small town. One being that there was only one popular hangout for most of the town named, "The Mystic Grill". An unoriginal name, but it was something to be less desired. But one of the things that I love now is being with my mate. His odd warmth surrounding me as his arm is wrapped around my waist. Guiding me into the town's largest restaurant/bar. The smell of food and alcohol immediately hit my senses, making my nose scrunch up in slight disgust. I could feel the cool temperature of my mate's hand against my hip as he pulled me closer to him. I shivered as that tingling feeling of his touch shot up my spine. Edward smirked at my reaction, kissing my forehead as he guided us to a table. In my 90 plus years of life, I've never felt so happy as I was now. He made my life feel complete. Edward had led us to the middle of the room just one table away from the fireplace which, was the center of the entire restaurant.

He stepped out in front of me to pull out one of the chairs out, offering me to sit first. 'Ever the gentlemen' I thought. It made me smile that he was making our first date together special. Once, I sat down he gently pushed me towards the table after that he took his seat on the opposite side. Both were beaming at each other and holding hands as a young male waiter came to us.

"Hello! My name is John. And I'll be your waiter for this afternoon", he introduced himself and at the same time handing the two of us the menu, "Here is the menu for you to look through. And in the meantime, what would you like as a drink, Ms.?", he said. I immediately lowered my level of happiness when his crude thoughts ran through my mind. But, disguised it with a fake smile on my face and a bittersweet tone in my voice. I could feel Edward's hand tense a little bit around my hand. "I'll handle this my love", I telepathically said to him.

"Yes, I would like just a glass of water, please. The same for my lovely fiancé over here", I said, taking a quick glance toward the smiling vampire across from me. The boy immediately paled when he found out that he was hitting on a taken woman. He tried to recover the best he could by clearing his throat and straightening his posture. The waiter boy quickly murmured that he was getting our drinks.

Edward and I looked at each other for a moment before, bursting into laughter. My bronze haired lover brought my hand to his lips, kissing my knuckles twice.
"I must apologize, my Darling, that I didn't buy you a ring in the past 24 hours", he said still, amused at the waiter's humiliation.
"Well, if you must know my love I don't need diamonds to feel happy with you", Taking my hand out his, reaching across the table to gently trace his jawline then, pulling away, "Now how about you help me choose what to eat", I said. Hinting at the fact that Edward couldn't eat human food like me.
He flashed that classic crooked smile of his. "Yes, I will, My Delilah.", he replied.

Bonnie Bennett POV

It was if, we were watching a ghost walking among us as Solar's look-alike walked away from, Edward with a smile still, painted on her face. She was genuinely happy to be with the vampire across from her. Seeing her made me feel happy to see my best friend once again as well as, sad because I knew better. This girl was not my Solar it was just someone that looked like her. Nonetheless, we were drawn to her as she walked across the restaurant to the women's bathroom. It was when she disappeared behind the bathroom door that we looked at the vampire in question Edward who seemed undisturbed. Instead, he was focused on the direction of the doppelganger that was in his company. He didn't acknowledge that two of Solar's best friends were looking right at him. Especially, when we knew that the Cold one was a telepath. I watched him as he closed his eyes for a moment, breathing in air that he didn't need. It seemed to distract him for a few more minutes until she came back. He opened his eyes, smiling at her as he got up from his chair. She wrapped her arms around his waist, looking at him with complete adoration. Edward reflected the same emotions of love towards the blonde that was in his arms. He whispered something into her ear which, made her blush. 'What the hell is happening right now? He's pretending as nothing happened' I thought.
