Chapter 7

Edward POV - Earlier the same morning

               When you have lived as long as I have you never feel complete until, you find your one true mate. The one soul that is the other half of what you are as an immortal being. But, I seemed to be an anomaly to that rule because I had not only one soul mate, I had two. One died and the other was singing in the bathroom as she prepared for the day. Delilah, was one of the most single best things that has happened to me. She was made perfect for a man like me and I couldn't ask for anything else. I had gotten up from our bed and got dressed into a black dress shirt, and dark blue pants with a gray cardigan and black leather boots to match. After dressing up I laid out my mate's outfit that matched mine in color. And as I was about to exit the room, Carlisle's thoughts had started to echo in my mind.

"Edward, we are having a family meeting. Rosalie and the other the others want to know more about Delilah. Meet us in the living room."

            I sighed as the remembrance of what happened last night. Last night was almost difficult for me to pull back the protective side of being a 'newly' mated pair. It was almost instinctual to protect my mate from my siblings although I knew very well they wouldn't hurt her. But, it was she that stopped from doing anything violent against my brothers and sisters. I watched her as she awkwardly accepted Jasper and Alice's sudden act of affection towards her. And I heard her mind as she read their thoughts about who they thought she was. It was heartbreaking and confusing for the four them when they were told that Delilah wasn't Solar. She a carbon copy of someone who passed. Someone who was completely different. However, it didn't stop them from wanting to know who exactly my mate was therefore, the reason for this morning's family meeting. I quickly walked down the stairs to the living room where my family was waiting. All of them were sitting on the couches and love seats in the center of the room. Only leaving one love seat nearest to the door for me to sit on. As soon as I sat down, Carlisle like usual took the lead.

"As you all saw last night, Edward was blessed with another chance, a second chance mate. Now, I know this is all confusing as to why, Delilah looks exactly like Solar. But, from what I understand and what Elijah has told us, Delilah is Solar's doppelganger. A perfect copy. However, as the four of you saw last night she is completely different from the Solar as we used to know. And the only thing that is... somewhat the same is that she is Edward's mate", he said.

"I understand what your saying, Carlisle but who and what is she exactly? I mean aside from her physical appearance I could tell that she isn't like us. She has a heartbeat", said Rosalie.
"Delilah, is what we call, a Dhampir, a child born by a human mother and a vampire father. And the reason she has a heartbeat is because half of her is human. In addition, to what she is Delilah has these extraordinary gifts of telepathy, control of the weather and the four elements. Which is unusual to see in any 'Cold one'", he answered.
"How is it that, Delilah is Edward's mate? I thought we only get one in our life time and he lost his", said Jasper. He looked at me then, at his hands as the memory of what we did wrong ran through his mind. After, Solar died Jasper wasn't the same person as he was before. He took things hard considering his empathetic gift, Jasper felt the guilt much more than the rest of us. Alice, took his hand in trying to comfort her mate.

"Yes, that is true we only get one mate and one mate only. But, under the circumstances surrounding Solar's passing and the fact that Delilah is her doppelganger contributed in, Edward getting a second chance at having another mate", he leaned forward with his elbows on his knees and his hands locked together. He looked at each and every one of us, "Now, I don't need to be a mind reader to know how we all feel about what happened back in Forks. I know that we all have regrets and that we feel guilty in what was said and done to, Solar. But, we all must try seeing this in a new light and get to know, Delilah for who she really is. And not just because she looks like, Solar but for who she is as a person. Just think of this as our second chance at making things right", said Carlisle in his fatherly sort of tone. His golden eyes looking at ours each and everyone until the smell of strawberries and cream reached my nose.

'Delilah, must be downstairs by now' I thought

*Same day - In the Afternoon*

                       After, the most amazing morning that my mate and I had with my family. Delilah and I, had decided to go into town for the first time as a mated pair. I had to admit that being in public was the same as it was in, Forks. Where everyone looked, talked, and thought about us which, over the years has never been a problem. However, this time was different because this time I was with my second chance mate. And I didn't know how the locals specifically, Stefan and Bonnie would react to me being with someone else. Someone who wasn't, Solar but things were different now. I was with the right person and not someone who forced me to be with. Delilah, in every way was my mate and the other half of my soul. Going out with her was just the first milestone in our immortal life together. The both of us had decided to go to, The Mystic Grill, to have our first date.

            It was safe to say that, Delilah was ecstatic to go on a date with me. At this very moment I was sitting on what was considered our bed while, Delilah was in the bathroom getting ready. As I finished tying laces of my brown leather shoes the soft echo of, Delilah's singing was coming through the door. She was singing Perfect by Ed Sheeran in perfect melody. It was another thing to add to the growing list of things that I love about her. It was as of on cue that she came out wearing a floral navy blue dress that reached down a few inches above the ankle. Delilah's perfect blonde locks tied back into a bun with her bangs framing her face. To finish off her overall look she was wearing black four-inch heels. She shot me through the heart with her smile as my beautiful mate spun around.

"So, what do you think?", she asked. As she walked across the room to sit next to me on the bed. I turned to face her, admiring her from head to toe. I reached to gently caress her right cheek and gently stroke her cheekbone causing her to close her eyes and purr. As she did so a crooked smile spread across my face.
"You look beautiful, my love", I said. She looked at me with eyes full of love and excitement. So much so that when she placed her perfectly pink lips on mine I couldn't help myself. I kissed her back with equal love and passion as my arm wrapped around her waist, bring her closer to me. And my hand sliding to the back of her neck. I had reminded myself that my mate was half human so, I pulled away to allow her to breath. I looked down at my little love and her swollen pink lips.

"Shall we?", I said. I gestured for us to leave.
"We shall", she said. Pecking my on the lips before, grabbing a hold of my hand dragging me out of our room. I laughed at her eagerness for our first date in the few days we've known each other. It was also, a good thing that I had long legs to catch up with the bouncing girl at my side while, we were walking towards my silver Volvo. And like any gentlemen would I opened the door for her to hop inside. Closing it as soon as she sat comfortably in the passenger's seat. I walked quickly (minus the vampire speed) to the driver's seat and hopped inside. We drove down the estate's long driveway to the only restaurant in town, The Mystic Grill.
