Chapter 14: Talking... Ew
Keith didn't want to do it. He was still mad. Especially after last night. Doing what he did made him feel better, and Shiro... Shiro tried to take that away from him in the worst way possible.
"Are you gunna talk to him now or after school?" Lance asks his boyfriend, who was slamming his locker shut. Keith sighs, glaring up weakly at his boyfriend.
"I don't know, Lance. I know I said I would do it today, I just don't want to be near anyone right now, especially Shiro. I'm just so angry. I get that he cares about me, but that doesn't mean he controls me. You care about me and you are so different to him." Keith explains, turning around from his locker to watch his classmates travel through the halls towards the cafeteria.
"I get that, but you need to talk to him soon. You've barely paid attention in class all day. Honestly, I think I got more work done than you." Lance states. It was no word of a lie, he really had taken more notes than Keith, who simply stared at the board with a blank expression. But Lance, being the caring boyfriend that he is, got most of Keith's notes for him, praying it would be enough.
"Yeah, that doesn't seem right." Keith mumbles, face burning at the realisation that he really didn't do any classwork. "Fine. Just get him out to the football field, this needs to be a private conversation. But remember, he doesn't know about who you are, only me. So, don't say anything that could expose yourself." Lance laughs, swinging an arm over his boyfriend's shoulders, tugging him close.
"I know, I know. I'll meet you out there with him okay?" Keith nods, turning away from his boyfriend and heading out of the hallways.
Lance watches him with heart eyes until the boy was gone from his sight. Lance sighs, slinging his bag over his shoulder and shuffling along with the mindless drones on his way to the cafeteria, hunting for the boy with two toned hair.
Lance instantly regretted turning Keith's phone off last night and stopping Keith from turning it on this morning. And besides, it wasn't like Keith wanted it to be on. Seeing Shiro was normally fine, but when Lance could tell that the poor boy looked like a zombie from across the cafeteria, he knew that he should have at least told Shiro that Keith was safe. Lance groans quietly before slowly making his way through the crowd, sitting himself down in front of Shiro, who barely looked up.
"What? Are you here to rub it in my face that I fucked up? I know, now piss off." Lance rolled his eyes, not affected by the others attitude.
"At least you know you made a mistake. If you want to fix it, walk with me now. He's willing to talk." Shiro nodded slowly, pushing his full food tray away from him and rising from his seat, slinging his bag up and over his shoulder.
"Okay. Where is he?" Lance sighs, standing back up and walking with Shiro trailing just behind him.
"Outside. But before you see him, you need to know. Your words killed him slightly Shiro. I'd say you are very lucky that he is even willing to talk to you at all. It took me a lot to convince him." Lance explains, leading the other out of the halls, following Keith's trail from before, the green field finally coming into view.
"But I don't understand?" Shiro mumbles, squinting at the brightness of the sun around them. Lance groans, tilting his head back.
"It's not a matter of 'if you understand'. It's a matter of choosing whether or not to be there for your brother before you lose the last family member in your life. Now. He's over on the bleachers. I'll be nearby if something goes wrong and trust me when I say, if you hurt him, I will not hesitate to beat you into a pulp.
