Chapter 16: Honesty rings true

Shiro sat on the couch staring into the kitchen where Keith and Lance were standing a few paces from each other, hissing at each other, Keith still wearing Lance's shirt whilst Lance had gone to his room and collected another of his shirts and put that on.

Something stirred in Shiro and it made him happy to know that Keith and Lance fought, it meant that maybe Keith had a chance of coming home and Shiro could have another chance to convince him to stop being Spiderman.

"What do you think they're fighting about?" Shiro whispered to Pidge. Pidge sighed, turning her gaze from her phone to stare into the kitchen for a moment before looking back to her phone.

"Keith is trying to convince Lance to kick you out, while Lance is trying to convince Keith you give you another chance around the fact that he is Spiderman and that you won't accept the fact that he's good at it." Shiro stared at Pidge in shock.

"You knew?" Pidge shrugged.

"I had a theory. You basically just fully confirmed it for me, but I had guessed it for a while. I think I also know who Deadpool is, but that's need to know and you don't need to know right now. All you need to know is that Keith is a good kid. He's older than me, not smarter, but older, but he's strong. And he doesn't need you to baby him anymore. He is finally becoming his own person and you can't keep trying to hold him back." Pidge spat out, not once looking up from her phone.

Shiro fell back into his chair shocked, trying to take in everything Pidge just said. She hit the nail on the head about Keith being Spiderman, and it was true that earlier that day it was Lance that convinced Keith to give Shiro another go, so why wouldn't Lance be the one trying to do that now.

Lance doesn't seem like the type of person to kick his lover's brothers out of his house just because he saw him shirtless and was mean to the pair earlier. Other than his fuckboy personality, deep underneath he does seem like the kind of person who does think family matters. What happened to Lance for that to be so important to him?

"Fine then! If something goes wrong, I blame you!" Keith hissed out as he stormed back into the lounge, but the words were loud enough for everyone to hear, the bitterness in Keith's voice caused Shiro to wince. Did Keith really think so lowly of him now?

Keith dumped himself into the couch opposite Shiro, staring at Pidge and only Pidge, not letting his eyes once drift to Shiro. Lance chuckled gently as he came into the lounge shortly after, carrying a tray of hot drinks, one looking different from the rest.

"Sorry, took a bit longer than I thought. I made some hot chocolate for myself and I couldn't find the almond milk for Keith's coffee." Lance explained as he took the odd mug out, letting the others take a coffee for themselves. "Now, to what do we owe this visit?" Lance asked as he settled in next to Keith, said boy moving slightly away from Lance, still annoyed at the situation he was now in.

Pidge finally slid her phone away and looked at the pair, her eyes almost narrowing harshly on Keith before she took her gaze to Shiro.

"I saw what happened on the bleachers earlier today. I know Shiro fucked up. I'm here to act as the better third party mediator of the situation and hopefully get Shiro and Keith on talking terms again and still allow Keith to continue his adventures and keep Lance and Keith's relationship together." Pidge's choice of words cause Keith and Lance to perk up, staring at the odd teenager.
