The man slid off of the railing and stood infront of Rain and Lium. Rain's eyes were wide while Lium's were narrowed. "What are you doing here, Joshua?" Lium growled. Joshua ignored him and stuck his hand out to Rain. "Joshua Heralds, at your service." He had a crooked grin plastered on his face. Rain stared at his hand, unable to move.
Joshua was still standing in the hallway, but Lium and Rain were still inside of his room. Is he a vampire? Joshua leaned against the door frame and grinned at her. "Why don't you come out here, miss?" He had that special tone in his voice, that made Rain's body move on its own.
Lium grabbed her arm, keeping her still despite her struggling. "Leave her alone, Joshua!" Joshua chuckled and smiled at him. "Why? Because your little baby mama is too delicate? I think she can fend for herself." Rain froze, breaking the enchantment. "You're what?" she hissed at him. Joshua's grin broadened. "You didn't tell her?" Lium paid no attention to Joshua's tease; he was looking at Rain.
Without looking at Joshua, Lium grumbled, "Could you please leave so I can explain." Joshua laughed aloud, "You mean lie? Alright, friend, but I'll be back later." and vanished. Rain stepped out of Lium's grasp and into the now empty hallway. "I'm your what? You're 'baby mama'?" Lium sighed and stepped towards her. "Rain, wait.." He wasn't able to finish, because Rain morphed into a dragon, her anger making the pain from the electric shock have no feeling. She heard a snap and electricity, supposing that the device that gave her the shocks broke.
Blindingly, Rain belched a blast of tesseract fire at Lium's direction, taking off towards nowhere. She didn't care if she flied low enough for the humans to see her, she just flew. So, am I pregnant What am I going to do with the baby? What if I am an Avenger? At this, she remembered that she had her phone in her pocket when they were going to leave. She sighed with relief, not wanting to go back.
Rain had flew mindlessly for a while, and spotted a gray airship in the distance. She had flown towards the base! She slowed down and was on the rear side of it. She pulled up next to it, making herself as large as it. She beat her wings in a steady rhythm. Her head came into view of the large window that looked into the base. Rain decided to stay there for a while.
Eventually, she heard a blast of rockets and turned her head to see Tony to fly out towards her. "What're you doing here?" he shouted at her. "Had to get away." She was able to speak in her other animal forms, but didn't need to open her mouth. "Away from what? What could possibly make a... girl like you need to get away from it?" Rain stayed silent for another minute or two, and shrunk back down to a jet sized dragon, and expanded her wings, making them act like a parachute, and went back onto the roof of the ship.
She morphed into human and sat down, her arms on her knees, and waited for Stark to land. She noted that Fury and Captain Rodgers were out there watching her sit. Stark landed with a thud, dramatically, and walked over to the group. "Let's go inside, shall we?" Fury turned on his heel and walked inside the doors; Rain sighed and pushed herself up with her hand and followed.
Once they were at the table, Stark out of his suit, everyone looked at her, waiting to explain. "So... there actually are vampires... and two of them are after me." Rain shrugged. After a moment, Tony bursted out laughing. The next moment, Rain grabbed his neck and lifted him out of his chair, fury in her eyes. "This is no laughing matter, Mr. Stark. These aren't the 'burn in the sun' or 'they've got fangs forever' vampires- these things look human, and could snap your precious suit in half with no trouble."
Steve put his legs onto the table, completely amused. When Fury shifted defensively, Rain released her grip. Tony rubbed his throat and croaked, "Well... you've got some spunk." Rain crossed her arms and glanced around, her eyes faltering when they met Steve's. She quickly looked away. He looks cuter in person... she noticed.
"Now," Fury snapped her out of her thoughts. "do you know who these things are?" Rain nodded, not caring that she was giving Lium, the man who won her heart to produce a complete monster, away to the team. "Lium Hensin. He lives off of highway 380 in Denton Texas." she replied, her voice steady. Fury wrote this down. "Do you know why he's going after you?" Nick Fury was looking at her, with no doubt in his eyes.
"Um... to, uh, create a half vampire thing..." she sat back down in her chair, the air seemed to get colder with awkwardness. "So he's wanting you pregnant." Steve crossed his arms, stating the question that was on everyone's mind. "Yes." Rain replied quietly. "Are you?" he frowned.
Rain pulled her legs up onto her chair and rested her chin on her knees. "I don't know." she sighed and looked out the window behind Fury. All three of the men shifted their postures and glanced at eachother. "Well that's going to be a problem," Fury went on, "because how aer we going to have our team member having random hormones?"
Rain sat up, her eyes brightening. Tony sighed and roled his eyes, walking out of the room. Rodgers grinned and stood up, holding out his hand for her to shake. "Welcome to the team!" he congradulated as she shook his hand in one good shake. "Thanks, and thank you, Mr. Fury." she beamed at the one-eyed man.
He had a small trace of a smile playing on his lips. "Just don't be too stubborn- we already have one of those. I also think that Romanoff will be glad to have another female fighter. That or she will be completely jealous." Fury walked over to Agent Hill, leaving Rain to completely pale. Looking at her expression, Steve shrugged. "Girls. Know nothing about them." Rain let a chuckle escape, despite herself.
"Probably because you're such an old man." she teased, elbowing him slightly. "Yeah, so you better respect your elder." he played along. Rain laughed and jiggled her jaw side to side, thinking. "So where do you guys stay?" she asked, looking up at him, since she was still seated.
Rodgers motioned for her to follow. "We have compartments that have a single bed, a small dresser, and a little bathroom. It's pretty cramped in them." They were walking down a sliver of a hallway, only able to walk single file, and have to turn their shoulders if someone passed in the other direction.
He stopped at a metal door and looked at it. "I think this one is empty..." he trailed, feeling around the frame for something. Rain watched curiously. "Here it is!" He found a red key card, and inserted it into a little slot. It opened without any trouble. Steve handed her the key. "Sit down, relax. You've probably had a rough day." Rain wandered over to the little cot that had a plastic covered matress over it and sat. "I'll bring proper bedding and a blanket later. If we need you, we'll call you through the speaker over there. Same way around for you." He pointed at an old looking box that had a red button and a speaker.
Rain nodded her thanks and Steve left the room, shutting the metal door behind him. Rain was hungry, but her exhaustion beat it by 4 levels, so she curled into a cat and slept, her fur helping her stay warm.
