Startled, Erin awoke to the sound of her father knocking at her door. She scrambled into a sitting position and yanked a textbook onto her lap. She opened the book right as her father turned the knob and walked in.
"What do you want for dinner?"
"Um, Dad can we have barbecue chicken?"
"Not tonight, no. Ok so we are going to have Portabella Mushrooms stuffed with cheese, chicken, tomatoes, and onions."
Erin sighed as her Father left the room. That was what happened every night. He asked her what she wanted when he already had a plan. Later, Erin and her Father ate dinner, quietly, like always. Well, ever since her mom had died. Erin recalled memories of days past, where she didn't need to worry about what Faction she will spend the rest of her life in, assuming she got past initiation, or what her dad will think when she leaves. Erin loved her dad, she really did, but nights like these are when she really wants to leave. But other nights, like last night, she felt guilty about wanting to leave her widowed dad, because she knew that he loved her, he just wasn't always the perfect dad.
So... Tomorrows the big day, huh," Erin's dad startled her out of her daze.
Erin nodded. Tomorrow was the day where she would take the Faction Test (A.K.A Aptitude Test) that would tell her what Faction she belongs in.
"Choose wisely. Make delicate decisions."
Erin hated that her dad tried to give her advice. It was kind of against the rules. "Yes, Father. I'm going to bed now Father. I'll do a little more studying too. Goodnight Father."
"Goodnight..."
Erin didn't sleep well. She kept on having nightmares about deserting her father, and him grabbing his belt. Swinging it. Her dad started to whip her. But only because he had fits where he'd get upset over nothing. Erin awoke and got ready for school. Because they had the test today, all the classes were shortened so that Erin had each of her classes before lunch, and after that, the Aptitude test. Erin got to school and went to her first class, but along the way she saw an Abnegation girl standing at the window, watching the Dauntless hop off the trains.
