Erin slept another restless sleep. She worried that she wasn't making the right choice. Earlier that day when she got home from school, her dad said,"Do you understand how much this will impact your life? I just want you to know, I love you, I know I'm not great at being a dad, it's hard sometimes. All I want is for you to be happy. We're having the barbecue chicken dish tonight." Then he got to work making dinner.
Erin felt grateful. She stood next to her dad and helped him make dinner. He smiled and ruffed her hair. When they sat down to dinner, they talked while they ate, something they rarely did. Erin went to her room and made up her mind on which Faction she would choose. But Erin still wasn't convinced it was the right choice.
Erin awoke early that morning, and took in everything in her room with her eyes, to remember her old life, she slowly walked through her simple, up to date, smart, house taking everything in. Then Erin started to get ready to go to the Choosing Ceremony, where she would decide on her new faction.
When Erin, her father, and all the other Erudite's got to the Sear's building, they piled in the elevators and slowly moved to the top floor.
Erin's dad took his seat while Erin slowly walked on the stage into her spot, right after the people with last names that started with A. There was a girl in front of her and a boy behind her. Erin zoned out while an Abnegation leader, Marcus, told the history of the factions. There were 5 huge bowls, where the blood from your hand was dropped to show what faction you choose. A pile of grey stones for Abnegation, sizzling coals for Dauntless, soil for Amity, glass reflecting blue light for Candor, water for Erudite. The people to go first were the X, Y, and Z last names, as they were going in reverse alphabetical order. Soon, there were only two people behind her. The person before her chose Amity, they cheered, and Erin's name was called forward. Erin looked anywhere but her dad. Marcus handed her the knife and she cut her hand, a pool of blood piling up, as she almost dropped the blood into the huge Abnegation bowl, when she shifted to the right and her blood hit the sizzling Dauntless coals.
