Erin stood as still as possible, barely daring to breath.
"Don't move. Drop all of your weapons. Dauntless correct? What's your story. Therese! Go see if Evelyn would like to see the newcomers."
Chase whispered, "We don't have any weapons. And yeah. We were kicked out because of our ranks, but that's because no one noticed us-..."
Chase faltered. The man behind them said, "Walk." and he pushed them forwards. They walked through a series of alleys and doors until they reached a huge metal door that the man shoved open. "Evelyn, these are the newcomers. This boy says that they were booted out because they weren't noticed, practically invisible."
"Interesting," the woman named Evelyn said in a harsh voice. She had long black hair and a worn face. "I take it that you have no idea where you are." Erin nodded. "Well, you are in the faction-less headquarters. And you are now one of us. Some refer to us as "the sixth faction". You will be placed out here in this area. Mark, take them to their placements."
The man who brought them in, Mark, led them out and into a huge room. There were many faction-less people sitting around the room, in groups near the fire, huddled in corners, laughing and handing around food. Erin thought, they're like a small community.
"I wonder what will happen," Erin said to Chase.
Chase shrugged. Mark left them and Erin spotted Edward. She walked over to see him. He said, "Oh hi. You were booted right? You must be useful if Evelyn placed you here." He wore an eye patch and his one eye was cold and deadly.
"Well we weren't necessarily placed because there were two people placed in our place. And we were out because of where we were placed."
A faint smile crept up on Edward's lips, as if he knew something they didn't. "You guys, are gonna be spy's."
