Erin sat with the other Erudite's after lunch as name by name was called. Slowly all of the Amity, Candor, Dauntless, and some of the Abnegation and Erudite were called.
"Erin Bleu, please come to the second room on the left." A tall Dauntless woman said. "Hi my name is Tori. You are my last Erudite today and then I have an Abnegation girl. Sit down on that chair please."
"Ok..." Erin said uncertainly.
"Don't worry. I'm just going to hook up some wires that will transmit the scene for the test okay?"
Erin nodded vigorously and let Tori hook her up.
Suddenly Erin was standing in front of a white table with cheese and a knife.
"Choose," a hidden voice said.
Erin thought for a second and picked up both.
"Only one," the voice said.
But Erin kept them both. Then the scene changed. A big, growling, snarling brown dog walked towards her. He was ready to attack. Erin set the cheese down on the ground and while the dog ate the cheese took the knife and took the dog's life. Erin watched as the scene changed again.
A Candor man was sitting in a bus and reading a newspaper. He shoved it in front of her and said,"Do you know this man?"
Erin felt as if she knew him, but she knew it would not end well for her if she confessed. "No I don't. Why?"
"You could save my life. Do you know this man?!"
"I'm sorry I don't," Erin said as the lies rolled off her tongue.
The lights turned on and Erin watched Tori take the electrodes off with her lip pursed.
"Okay. Using the cheese ruled out Dauntless but using the knife ruled out Abnegation and Amity. The plan you formed did not rule out Erudite. Telling those lies ruled out Candor. You have the aptitude for Dauntless, Erudite, and Abnegation. You must never tell anyone this. It is called," Tori lowered her voice to a whisper,"Divergent."
"Okay. Um ok."
"Never tell anyone okay? Ever."
"Yea I understand."
"Ok I'm going to show you out. Make the right choice for you, not your family."
Erin walked to the waiting area for after the test and sat down with the other Erudite's. How can I be meant for a faction I hate? Erin thought. She sighed. Her choice's were Abnegation and Dauntless. There was no way she could live or make it through initiation in Erudite. Erin felt a wave of guilt threatening to spill over, but she knew that Erudite was the wrong faction.
