"Darien?" The female voice shouts through the large house. "Darien? Come down for a minute, please." She shouts again.
The teen walks down the large stairway. His brown hair goes up and down as he jumps down the large steps. "What is it?" He asks when he is almost down.
"You need to get one." She says. She crosses her arms. "No." Is his only reply. "Darien, your dad wants you to go to the market hall now, they are selling a few perfect beasts." She says again.
"Why do we need one? It will have nothing to do." He says. His mother hands him the money anyway. "Don't come back before you bought one of them." She says while walking away.
Darien sighs. His hand goes through his hair. He picks up his jacket as he walks out of the front door. The big stack of money is pushed in his pocket.
A vampire. Why would they need one? It would just be dangerous. That is how Darien had always seen this situation. Ever since the first people started capturing the things.
He walks down the road and onto the market. "Great ones, I am tellin' ya!" One of the fish sellers tells a man with a large hat. "Even heard they got a Nightwalker." He adds.
The man with the hat shakes his head. "Do you really believe that, my friend. A nightwalker he says." The man walks away. "I'm not lyin'!" The man shouts, obviously offended.
Darien just moves on. He keeps wondering what a Nightwalker is, but he is afraid that if he asks, he will look stupid.
The nineteen year old opens the door op the building in the middle of the market. A lot of people are sitting on the chairs in the hall. All of them have their money in their hands. Darien walks passed a little counter.
Darien sits down on one of the chairs in the middle of the crowd. A man walks onto the stage. He has a big smile on his face.
"Welcome ladies and gentleman." The man says. "Another day, another change on getting one of these precious monsters." He chuckles.
"Well, they aren't really monsters anymore. First one." Two guys walk onto the stage with a girl. She has handcuffs on and one of the guys holds her long black hair.
Darien shakes his head. He doesn't want her. A few people start shouting numbers until one of them stands up and walks back to the little counter. A few other vampires show up, but Darien feels that he should wait.
"And know, last but not least. The girl all the stories are about. She is really here. A lot of people didn't believe the stories, but the untameable has been tamed." The guy says.
This time a lot of guards show up one the stage. They all hold a girl. All people in the hall gasp. They all start whispering. Darien looks at the girl.
She has brown hair that reaches just across her shoulders. Her eyes are closed and her head is hanging.
"I don't believe this! Show me her eyes!" A female screams from the crowd. One of the guards grabs the girl's head. "You heard it. Open them." He orders.
The girl hesitates before slowly opening them. A pair of green eyes show. In the middle of the right eye rests a red spot.
Darien is amazed by this girl and he knows that he will spend all his money on her if he has to. "500!" The female screams. "600!" Another screams.
Darien counts his money. 2500 dollars. Must be enough. The people keep shouting until Darien couldn't take it anymore. Someone has just screamed 1100 when Darien stands up.
"2500." He shouts. All of the people widen there eyes and look to the boy. Even the girl looks at him. He smiles at her before walking to the counter.
He puts the money down. "Gongratulations." The woman behind the counter says. Darien just nods. "They will deliver her as soon as possible." She adds, after writing down the boy's adress.
Darien walks out and back to the large house he lives in. His father and mother are already waiting on the couch in the large living room.
"And?" His father asks. "They will deliver her soon." He says. Darien walks upstairs and into his room.
A few hours later his mother calls him down again. "Darien! The vampire is here." She shouts. Darien stands up and runs down.
He doesn't know why, but he is happy that she will be here. His father and mother are already waiting at the door. Darien opens it and three guards stand in front of it.
"One Vamp for the Krestins." The man says. "That would be us." Darien's father says. A few other guards grab the girl from the truck. Her eyes are closed again.
His father gasps. His mother just stands there, wide eyed. "You bought her?" His dad asks. Darien nods with a smile on his face.
"She is not stepping one foot in my house." His mom says. "She is tamed-" The guard starts. "She can't be tamed!" His father shouts.
"Sir, don't you see how she walks? Her eyes closed, head down. She will be no burden. And if she is, we will take her back." The man says.
Darien's father sighs. "Get her into the living room." He says. Darien makes a happy jump. He still doesn't get why he is so happy.
The guards put her down on the couch. "What if she gets bloodlust?" Darien's father asks. "She can't. She can only have a Blood Rush when her companion is next to her."
At the word companion her head perks up a little. Her eyes open slightly but close immediatly. "And her nails?" His dad asks again.
"We pulled them out. No worries she can't grow them anymore." The guards leave again and Darien's dad turns to the vampire.
"Lenari?" His dad asks. The vampire opens her eyes a little again. "Look after our son, Darien. Protect him to everything. And don't you dare lay a finger on him." He says before walking away.
Darein's mom gives Lenari a pitiful look before walking after her husband. "Hey Lenari." Darien says. She opens her eyes fully now.
The green eyes look beautiful on her pale white skin. Her brown hair hangs over her shoulders. "I am Darien." He says. She nods.
"Shall I show you your room?" He asks. She nods again. Darien gets up and runs up the stairs. Lenari follows him until they reach the room next to Darien's room.
"Here it is. You need to say if you need something." Darien says while opening the door. Lenari walks in and looks around. A large bed stands on the left side of the room.
A desk stands at the left side against the wall and a dark red carpet covers the floor. "Thank you." She says while bowing.
"Don't bow." Darien says. Lenari looks up confused. "See me as a friend. Not as a boss or something." He adds.
He walks away. "Wait." Lenari says. Darien turns around to look at the creature. "What are you going to do?" She asks. "I'm going to play a game." He says.
"Can I watch?" Darien smiles. "Of course, Len." He replies.
Lenari closes her eyes again and looks down. A tear is threatening to spill. "Sorry, I will just call you Lenari in the future." Darien says quickly.
She nods.
"Can you tell me about that companion they were talking about?" He asks. "Maybe later." Lenari answers. "Let's play that game." She adds.
She looks up again and smiles. It is a little smile, but Darien is happy that she even showed a little piece of happy emotion.
"Yeah. Let's go!"
