Kopa POV
As I continued my journey the forest I began feeling water at my feet. Apparently this was more than a forest, it was also a marsh.
"Ugh" I said. The water had mud at the bottom. I have been on this journey on my own for the past while since I left the beavers. Today I spent most of my time trekking through the marsh. Besides the wet mud it is also humid. I was hoping to make it out before sun down. Suddenly I heard quiet screaming. Threw the grass was ruffles trails coming at me. I braced for a fight. As the trails neared I noticed they were mongoose. Five popes out at me.
"Who are you outsider" said the one with red markings on his face and back.
"Why are you on our territory" said the female close to him.
"My apologies I don't mean to trespass I am trying to get home I think I am lost".
"You mean you don't want to harm us" said the male.
"No I just want to het out of the marsh".
They chatted amongst themselves.
"I am Duma leader of our group" said the male.
"I am Yima his second" said the female.
"We will help you find your way out of you do something for us" said Duma.
"Okay what do you need".
"There are a group monkeys that live not far from here, they like to prey on us. When you stop them We will help you"
"Alright where are they".
"They live in an old decrepit tree in that direction".
I head to the tree. Why would monkeys live here it isn't their type of habitat. I kept walking until I saw the tree.
"Hello I heard some monkeys were bothering a group of mongoose" I called
"Who are you" said a voice. I turned to see a group of 5 monkeys. They weren't your normal monkeys either. They were vervet monkeys.
"You don't have the story right" said a male vervet monkey "I am Adolfo our leader".
"Really because Duma says other wise".
"That low down mongoose, we aren't purposely harming them we are defending ourselves".
"What do you mean".
"Along time ago Duma and I used to be friends and our groups were one, then one we encountered a lushes marsh. He wanted to have all the fruits here and share none with us monkeys. He began attacking us. Ever since then we have been feuding."
"He really did that".
"Yes".
I don't fully believe that. I think Adolfo isn't as innocent as he let's on. I decided to go back to Duma.
"So what did you do".
"Adolfo said you wanted all the territory to yourself so you attacked them".
"Ugh should have known he would do that we did attack them but we didn't want it all too ourselves. Adolfo and his monkeys horded all the food and wouldn't share with us so for us to eat".
Okay this is a stupid reason to fight amongst them. I decided to bring them together and be friends again.
"Okay Duma follow me".
"But where..."
"Just follow me".
I sat him down halfway to the tree anx told him to wait. Next I went and grabbed Adolfo.
"What happened to Duma" he said.
"Follow me and I will show you". He followed me. When they both met in they gasped.
"Hey whats the big idea" said Duma.
"Yeah why is he here".
"Okay your guys feud is pointless, Duma you should never attack your best friend and Adolfo you should share the food I mean you two brought your groups together as friends why hide food from each other or attack each other".
They both began to think about what I has said. They slowly looked at each other.
"He's right Adolfo I'm sorry for attacking you and your monkeys".
"I'm sorry Duma for hiding food from you guys".
"So we can be friends again".
"Yes I think so".
They both high fived.
"Good now that the problem is solved how do I get out of the marsh".
"Oh right..." said Duma.
"There is a an exit about a few hundred feet away from my tree" said Adolfo.
I felt stupid. The exit was only a few feet away, If I knew that then I wouldn't have had to waste my time here helping a mongoose and monkey. My elder rage started to boil but I took a few breaths and it was gone.
"Thank you guys".
"No Kopa thank you" said Duma. They waved good bye. I began walking back to tree. I climbed on top of it and looked around. To the south was an opening in the forest. I headed toward the light. Finally I would get out of this wet marsh. But what was waiting for wasn't going to be any better. After the marsh came a desert.
