Things Are Strange, I Like It Like That.

Chapter Twenty-Six

"What?" I blurt out.

"It was Michael. He made sure I remembered that too." Austin says quietly.

"What do you mean?" I ask slowly.

"Well, every time he punched me or hit me or kicked me, he said, 'that'll teach you to mess with my Kay.'"

"I am not his!" I frown and gently touch Austin's cheek. "Come on. Lets get you cleaned up."

He nods and follows me to the bathroom.

"This is gonna hurt just a little." I say quietly.

"Wha-" He starts but I cut him off by putting the alcohol cleansing wipe on his cut.

He winces in pain and I frown. "Sorry. You do not want an infection on your face."

"How's Dylan?" He asks.

"Good." I swallow hard. Do I tell him about the dreams? Would it put them to an end?

"That's good." He smiles a little.

"Yeah. Can I tell you something..?" Am I really doing this?

"Sure. Anything." He looks at me.

I gulp. "Okay, um, I've been having these...weird dreams."

He nods. "About?"

"Uh..us." I look at the first aid kit.

"Is that good or bad?" He asks.

"I don't know. The dreams are good but...I don't think having them is good."

"What do you mean? What do we do?"

"We...um...kiss."

"That's not that bad..."

"We go further than that, Austin."

"How much further?"

"One of us has their shirt off and then I wake up."

He bites his lip. "Oh."

"Yeah." I look down.

"So, what do they mean?" He asks.

"I have no idea."

"Don't think I'm creepy but, do you think you keep having it over and over because you maybe...want it to happen?"

What the hell do I say to that? I don't know what I want anymore.

"I don't want it to happen." I say without thinking. I'm happy with that answer.

He frowns a little. "So, they're just dreams then?"

I nod. "Just crazy dreams."

"Okay." He bites his lip.

Thank God I said I didn't want those dreams to happen because I realized that the moment I said it I really didn't want them to happen. And that's that.
