Chapter Nine (Continued)

Before I know it, his lips are pressing against mine. So many things are going through my head. Why am I not pulling away? Pull away! Why are you kissing him? You are dating Louis! Pull away! But, it was a nice kiss. No, stop. He's just you're best friend..that loves you. 

We both pull away. He smiles. I bite my lip. "Um.."

"I'm sorry. I don't know why I just did that. I just..I mean you're eyes are so hypnotizing and I just got caught in the moment and I.." He gets off of me. I try to say something but I choke. What do I say? I just kissed my best friend. Well, he kissed me. "I should go.." He grabs his jacket.

"Austin, you don't have to if you don't want to." I stand up.

"I want to. I don't want this to be any more awkward." He starts to walk out the door. "Want me to give you a ride to Simon's house?"

"Um..sure." I walk out and get into the car. It was freezing outside. He starts up the car and begins to drive. The whole way is silent. I start to think about everything.

How do I tell Louis? Do I tell Louis? Do I tell any of them? Well at least I know he has feelings for me now. And I know something else, I do not have feelings for him. I love him, but as a friend. 

I smile at my thoughts. I really didn't have feelings for him. He was just my best friend.

"I'm really sorry, Kaleigh." He says softly.

I try to think of something good to say. "It isn't your fault. I don't get why you're sorry, either. You just kissed the girl you like, that isn't a crime."

"It is when she has a boyfriend." He sighs and pulls into Simon's driveway. I get out of the car and look at him.

"I think this is just a phase, I think you don't really have feelings for me. you just might be getting mixed up in our friendship." I bite my lip and hope that sounded right.

"I don't think it's a phase, but I hope so. And..uh..I want to tell Louis. I don't want him getting mad at you."

"Austin, I'll tell him." I look at him. He looked so upset.

"No, Kay. I'm serious, I want to tell him." He says.

"Alright. I'll see you later, okay?"

"Okay. Bye, Kaleigh." I watch him drive away and then I walk up to the front door. Slowly, I raise my hand to the door and knock. I hear voices from inside. Not just voices, I heard yelling. Were they fighting? I knock again.

Simon finally opens the door and sighs. "Thank God you're here. Go control your boyfriend." He getsures inside and I walk into the warm house.

"Liam! Give me back my phone! I said give it- Kaleigh?" Louis stops running and looks at me.

"What's going on?" I ask, taking off my jacket.

"He's going crazy!" Harry calls from somewhere that I can't see him.

"Crazy with jealousy." Liam rolls his eyes.

"I..they.." Louis tries to come up with an excuse.

"He was being absolutely ridiculous." Simon says.

"Liam took my phone. I wanted it back so.." Louis bites his lip.

"I only took it because you were going to call her and bother her!" Liam protests.

"I wanted to make sure they were okay!" Louis walks over to me.

"By okay you mean you wanted to make sure she wasn't getting all kissy with him?" Zayn asks.

"Zayn, shut up." Louis says and I walk with him to the living room.

"I can't believe you think that Kay would cheat on you. She's not like that and you know that." Niall pipes up.

"I know. I just know he has feelings for her. And I don't want her to have feelings for him, too." He sighs and lays his head on my shoulder. God, I feet so guilty. I mean I don't care if I wasn't the one who kissed him, I still feel guilty. Austin better tell him soon or I will.

"So..this all happened when I was gone?" I ask leaning in toward Louis. He pulls me close to him and kisses the top of my head.

"Pretty much." Liam says, looking down.

"Well, Austin told me that he wanted to talk to Louis." I say suddenly.

"Talk to me about what?" He looks into my eyes.

"I don't know. He didn't say.." I lie.

"Well maybe I should just talk to him now. I don't think he's gotten far yet. Call him for me?"

I nod and slowly pull out my phone. I dial Austin's number.

"Hello?" He answers, sounding shaky.

"Um..Louis says that if you aren't to far, you can turn around and talk to him now." I studder.

"Good. This guilt is eating me alive. I just want to get this over with. I'll be right there." He hangs up and I set my phone down.

"Well?" Louis asks.

"He said he'd be right over." I snuggle closer to him, still freezing from the weather.

"Great." He hugs me tighter and smiles.

Now all we have to do is wait. Wait for Austin.

We are all silent when we hear a knock on the door.

"It must be Austin. I'll get it." I hop up and answer the door to let him in.

"Hi, Kay." He whispers.

"Hi." I say awkwardly.

"Is it weird that I'm super nervous?" He says, rubbing his hands together.

"I'm nervous, too." I help him with his jacket and walk him to the living room.

"Austin! Ready to talk?" Louis says, getting up.

Austin nods.

"Well we can go into the bedrroms that Simon has for us when we stay the night. Come on I'll take you to mine." Louis walks Austin up the stairs and I watch. Then slowly I sit on the couch and fidget with my hands.

"Something wrong?" Simon ask.

I jump, startled. "Yeah. Everything's fine. I'm just cold, that's all." I shiver.

"Well then come sit with us, Kay! We'll warm you up." Niall smiles and opens his arms.

I giggle and run over to them. They all crush me in a big group hug.

"I'm just nervous about what's going on up there." Niall says.

"Me too. What if they kill eachother? Well, Austin likes Louis. It'd be Louis that killed Austin." Harry adds.

I sit there and think. Please Louis, take this okay.
