A/N: Hey guys. I am so sorry that I literally disappeared off the face of the Earth. I got busy with clincials (working in a hospital learning how to be a nurse), exams, work and then I got the flu, with the added bonus of Bronchitis, which basically means I've been either puking (which makes the bronchitis worse) or struggling to breathe for the past week and a half.
I did have some ideas when I was watching my sick day movies, and posted two new story ideas: a Pirates of the Caribbean fic, the main character is Jack Sparrow's little sister and she is under the curse of the Black Pearl and is trying to find the cure so she can join her brother in his supposed grave. So that's one it's called Raven and it's up on my profile, and the other is 'The Slave to Time and Space'. This one is going to be a lot longer than anything else I've done, at least if my plans work out (which they hardly ever do). But anyway, she's a time-traveler, born on the crossing of the Mayflower way back during the British colonization of America. She eventually meets up with the Avengers and tries to save the world from Thanos. It will be a love story, I just haven't decided who I want her to be with yet, but I have a while to decide since I don't think I'll work on it until I finish up some other stuff. But yeah the prologue is up for that one too on my page.
Anyway, thank you if you made it through that rambling mess and understood any of it, I hope you all enjoy this next chapter and I'll try to be more consistent with updating but I'm still pretty sick, I'm actually writing this while sitting next to the toilet incase I have to throw up again... but anyway, enjoy!
I watched, fascinated as she took down a small herd by herself. There were seven of them, and she disposed of them in two minutes, and didn't even break a sweat. I would have helped, but I had been holding Dale's hand since he didn't have a weapon yet, and I couldn't load my bow with one hand. Besides, she didn't need my help. God, does she even need me?
"Clear!" She called, scooping her arrows out of their heads and checking to make sure they were down before she motioned us into the store. She had done the trick we figured out in our runs, knocking on the door and waiting for the walkers to build up, and taking them all out at once. We had waited for ten minutes before she opened the door, and now that I see inside I can tell why.
I had never been in an Academy. I always got my stuff from Bass Pro Shop, or made it myself, but damn. This place is huge. Bass Pro is gigantic too of course, but its more open, which is why I like it. This place, has a crap ton of nooks and crannies to hide out in. Places for walkers to get stuck, or for humans to hide. But, it didn't look like it had been touched much. Riley said they normally keep the good stuff locked up, and if any intruders didn't know how to pick locks, the stuff should all still be there.
As we walked through, she pushed a cart, with Dale sitting inside while I held my bow up, waiting for anything to jump out at us. Nothing did, and forty minutes later, we all had several new sets of clothes, which we changed into, new shoes, boots for me and Dale, and some thick hiking boots for Riley. And we finally had good weapons. Riley and I had found some bows in a family sports store, but they weren't high quality and there wasn't anything for Dale, but now, we all had good bows, high quality arrows, and we each had a few hand guns, and Riley and I had some bigger guns, I had a shotgun, and she had picked out a AR. And finally, on our way out, she grabbed a pair of long knives, which were practically swords, and I grabbed a skinning knife, which would be really helpful if we actually caught some food.
Only sucky thing about this store, was most of the snacks were trashed. We were only able to find a bag of nuts, and a small bag of Swedish fish, which suck but Dale seemed to like them.
"Where do you want to go?" I asked as we made ourselves out, still pushing the cart with Dale and our new things inside, Riley looked around at our surroundings once we exited. There were no walkers, and there were a few big stores around, but none I wanted to get into today, not when we hadn't eaten and needed a rest from everything that had happened.
"I saw a neighborhood on our way here, like five minutes away? We could go there, clean up, get changed, rest, and figure out what we want to do. Where we want to go." She mumbled, glancing down at the exhausted Dale who had fallen asleep in the small space meant for kids in the cart, leaning on his new crossbow.
"Sounds good. Lead the way." I grumbled, and she nodded, and began pushing the cart, while I watched for anything out of the ordinary, and hoped that at some point we could sit down and talk about what happened, and maybe, maybe, we could get back to how we were before.
A/N: Again, sorry about the short chapter, I'll write more in a minute, but I need to shower I feel disgusting, so give me about an hour and there'll be a nice new chapter for you all!
