Different in the Same Ways

Chapter 16

I wake up fully terrified of the stupid noise and see that I am stuck to something, something or shall I say someone like Luke. I look side to side then in front of me and shoot daggers at the person I was looking for and point in her direction. Ellie. Ooh Ellie, I will get you back when you least expect it.

I try to get up from my bed till I realize that I can't get up unless Luke does to. The struggle guys. I look back at Ellie with pleading eyes if she can un handcuff us, unfortunately she's still rolling on the floor laughing along with Alex. At least I accomplished something, they are together and I am happy for them. How can this be revenge to me when I didn't really hurt anyone when I made them get together? This made me furious, really furious.

"Can you get up with me Luke, so I can go talk to Ellie for a minute," I say as least awkward I can make things.

He nods his head, "Sure." We both get up and balance ourselves so we both don't fall face flat on the floor.

We walk over to where she and Alex are, their face red from laughing still. I roll my eyes in annoyance and groan. "Why," I yell in her face throwing one of my hands in the air and leave without her getting a chance to reply.

"What are you thinking of Luke?" I ask. He looks up at me in shock. Why? I do not know. "Earth to Luke, earth to Luke," I say as he was blanking out for a minute.

He looks straight ahead without looking at me saying, "Us." Now I look at him in shock, "I meant food wise Luke, I am up for a cinnamon bun, how about you?"

Before he can reply I drag him to where the cinnamon buns are located, my mouth drooling of hunger and thirst.

I grab a cinnamon bun and apple juice while Luke does the same. We walk back to the dorms and walk to his bed to eat on. Ellie and Alex just finished cleaning up.

I immediately tear the wrapper apart and munch on my breakfast while Luke does the same. After I finish my cinnamon bun, I drink my apple juice. After Luke also finishes up his breakfast, my eyes grow wide. "I have to use the bathroom."

"Me to," Luke whispers.

We both march up to Ellie and demand our freedom, "Undo our handcuffs Ellie..please?"
Ellie smirks, this whatsoever cannot be good, and I mean it.

"You either have to kiss each other on the cheeks or hug each other for ten minutes."

My eyes pop out of my sockets, "We have to pee Ellie!" Her smile widens, "One or the other Scar."

I look at Luke and ask, "What would you rather do Luke?"

"Hug each other for ten minutes," he replies.

"Let's do the other one then," I say and quickly kiss his soft pink cheeks. His cheeks grow warmer, "Okay."

He leans forward and lands his soft lips against my skin. My face also grows warm like a red hot chili pepper cooking in an oven and than taking a bite of it after it just finished cooking still burning hot, and not even cooled down.

"There you go Ellie, now un handcuff us," I say grudgingly flailing our arms up in Ellie's face.

She squeals and finds Nick because he has the keys. Why does this have to be me out of everyone especially with Luke, out of all people I had to be handcuffed to him, Ellie and Alex had an easy get together, why not me? I get angrier by the second. Luke notices but doesn't ask why I'm angry and I'm glad he doesn't.

Ellie comes back and grabs our arms and unlocks our handcuffs. Thank God. I am free from torture! I grin from ear to ear and yell, "God bless you!"

Without thinking I walk up to Ellie and hug her next, Nick and after that, I give Luke a big warm hug, too happy to know what I'm doing.

I breathe in his cologne and it smells of nature, "I love your cologne. It fits you, very refreshing."

After a minute he doesn't hug me back so I slowly pull a way, but then he grabs me again and hugs me even tighter than before.

As I pull away from Luke, I hear Ellie murmur, "I'm surprised he didn't hug her back immediately." Nick and Alex laugh histerically. I roll my eyes. After I pull away I look at Luke less awkwardly as possible with a sheepish grin.

Suddenly I feel a sharp pain in my head and Ellie looks up at me worried, "You okay there Scarlet?"

"I'm fine Ellie, it's probably from the earlier concussion," I say groaning.

She looks at me wearily, "Alrighty then Scarlet."

"Besides today's the first day we see our fear landscape, I don't have time for rest, and stop calling me Scarlet."

"I like the name Scarlet," Luke whispers and I blush a little bit, and I'm glad I'm a little darker toned so no one notices.

"Why don't we go out somewhere and hangout guys?" I ask.

"Alex and I have a group date with another couple, sorry Scar." Ellie says giggling looking at Alex dreamily.

Great. I feel like I'm a third wheel, that's okay though, they need there space and I need mine. I need to learn how to be mostly independent now. I'm Dauntless, aren't I?

"Nick how about you, are you busy?" I ask with pleading eyes.

"Sorry Scar, I am really busy with all the stuff with fear landscape, and we have a long day ahead of us. I really need some rest."
Nick says shrugging his shoulders.

"Luke are you busy, I don't mind if you want to hang out with Julia instead, I have to catch up on reading anyway so um.. bye I-"

"Scarlet, I don't like Julia, I would rather
hang out with you than anyone else here, okay?" Luke interrupts.

I don't really believe him but I go along with it anyways, "Okay, I guess."

"Why don't we go out to this Dauntless cupcake place called Wild Heavens, I heard its a really good place for cupcakes." He suggests.

"I love cupcakes," I say softly.

"Perfect," Luke says.

"Perfect," I answer back.

"Yummy."

"Told you so," Luke say's munching on his own dessert.

I look back at my watch and grab Luke's forearm immediately. 

"Hey, what are you doing? I'm trying to eat my cupcake." Luke says annoyingly.

"Dude, eat it on the way. We have to go back, we have to start our fear landscapes in ten minutes,"  I say running through the crowd of Dauntless.

Luke shoves the rest of his cupcake in his mouth and pulls my arm, smirking.

We stop in front of the entance door.

"Ready?"

"Ready." Luke says smugly.
