Chapter 14

I feel a gust of wind appear next to me and suddenly wake up.

"Hey Scar, how ya doing?" Ellie asks, rubbing my back awkwardly.

My eyes go wide and I reply sharply, "I'm fine," rubbing my cheeks.

After a moment of silence she starts speaking again, "I found out what bothered you," she said quietly.

A tear dropped from my face.

Dang it Scarlet! Why can't you hold it in?!

"I'm sorry about what happened, but I promise Luke didn't like what was happening at all. He hated being there, he was trying to get away when I shoved her off then he ran away. I also promise that Jude is sure to either one, end up with a concussion or two, end up with a bruise on her butt," Ellie says with a serious look.

I was amused of what she said and chuckled when I saw her face.

"That's good," I say back.

When I think of Jude again my face falls into a frown again and I'm so angry right now I want to cry.

"This is fun and all," Ellie started, "But when people says laughter is the best medicine, they lie, it's brownies."

I look at her confused and I start bursting out laughing like a choking maniac, my head falling on her shoulder.

Ellie is.. soo.. Ellie. That makes sense.

I look up at her and see her grinning like another maniac.

"You know.. I know a guy who just so happens to be the head chef," Ellie says nonchalantly.

I look up to her surprised and confused and her smile grew even wider, if that was even possible.

"Let's go make some brownies Scarlet," Ellie says pulling me up next to her.

I chuckle, "Sounds good."

She knows exactly how to make people feel better, food.

"Off for ze brownies!" Ellie says aloud.

After she introduced me to the head chef who she weirdly nicknamed cookie, we received permission to borrow the kitchen.

"Cookie!" Ellie shouts.

"What!" A loud booming voice shouts

back.

I swear, my ears are gonna fall off.

"Where's the flour!" Ellie asks loudly.

"In the cabinet labeled powdery stuff!" Cookie reply's.

Ellie finally finds the flour in the upper cabinet and grins. While waiting for the brownies to finish baking, we munch on watermelon slices Cookie cut up for us.

Ellie told me about Jude's "secret" and made me promise to not tell anyone. At least we have something to hold over her.

After our brownies finally finished we left some for Cookie and took the rest to go.

As we walk in we see Nick and Eric glaring at us.

"Where have you two been, Training starts in two minutes!" Eric yells.

Ellie awkwardly holds out the paper plate and asks, "Brownie?"

Nick and Eric glare at us and take a brownie.

"Hurry up and get ready," Eric mumbles.

We hurriedly walk to the dorms and share the brownies at the same time. When we got dressed, on the way out I was laughing at how Nick and Eric dealt with the whole situation.

As we were walking I saw Alex behind us so I ran ahead to get a seat by myself so they can be by themselves.

We quickly watched a Candor and Amity guy fight and it was over quickly.

"Montgomery versus Savor!" Eric announced.

My eyes go wide. I am so dead.

Cliffhanger!! Muahahahahahaha! I am soo evil!
