Several days passed and Natasha found herself curled up in a ball in a bed that was not her own. She opted to stay with Carol for the time being until Sharon was caught or at least until Natasha was no longer wanted by the men that searched her home and she could hold her own ground. Laying there staring at the wall, Natasha found herself wanting the company of a big strong man, but she knew Steve was out saving the world, or so to speak saving her from the bad guys, or at least trying to.
She was an assassin and knew how to fight and defend herself so staying in bed all day was her least favorite thing to do. Her body still ached terribly, granted it was only 9 days since the incident. Slowly moving to her back, Natasha pulled up her shirt and looked at the beginning stages of scaring tissue. "Damn, bye bye bikinis." Her fingers trailed up the stitching and she sighed. It was still hot and bumpy, but it showed no signs of infection. "This sucks!" Not realizing that her scream not only made her flinch in pain, but it also made Carol run upstairs fairly quickly.
"Natasha?! Natasha is everything ok?! I heard you scream, but I couldn't hear any of the words." Carol, frantic about Natasha opening her stitches, sat down on the bed and looked at the still exposed abdomen. Natasha looked at Carol and grabbed a pillow to cover her face and let out a big whine. "I just want to go find her. I want Steve. I want to fight. I hate staying put." Carol grabbed the pillow from Natashas face and shook her head while she chuckled softly. "Pretty girl, you can't. I know you want to, but Sharon is dangerous. She'll find one way or another to kill you. As for Steve, Natasha he'll be over soon. He said that he had a surprise for you. Just be patient ok?"
Natasha narrowed her eyes before looking at the ceiling. "Can you do me a favor? I'd ask Steve to do it, but he's too rough." Carol raised her eyebrows and looked at Natasha cautiously. "What's that?" "Can you grab the ointment and apply it to the stitches? Steve tries to do it, but he hurts me when he does. I've tried, but I've managed to pull a stitch or two." Carol laughed as she grabbed the ointment on the bedside table. Opening the cap, she squeezed out a thick clear paste on her fingers and then rubbed it around Natashas stitches. "That explains why it looks like it's not healing cleanly."
Carol continued to rub the ointment around Natashas stitches, watching her slowly close her eyes. "Have you slept at all?" Natasha shook her head before opening her eyes to look at Carol. "No. I'm too scared to. Don't ever tell anyone either that I'm scared or I'll end you once I'm better." Carol laughed and held out her pinky. "Pinky promise." Natasha hooked her pinky with Carols and she sighed in relief. "Mmm that feels good. It's like you have magic fingers." Carol rolled her eyes as she moved her hand away and grabbed the gauze and ace bandage. "Keep talking like that and people are going to think we're together. Now, why aren't you sleeping?"
"Because, I'm scared that Sharon will be here. I know that she won't come here, but it still scares me. I'm not seen as a weak person Carol and she made look that way. She most definitely made me feel that way too. I'm scared that she'll take Steve away and everything I want will be gone. Ripped away from me like a child being ripped away from their parents." Natasha watched Carol apply the gauze and then unroll the bandage. "Am I insane for that?"
Carol motioned Natasha to lift her abdomen a bit so she could wrap the bandage around her and while doing so, she looked at Natasha right in the eyes for a brief second. "No. You have every right to feel this way, but I can promise you Sharon will never step foot in my house. I will destroy her before she even comes close to laying a hand on you." After finishing up the wrapping, Carol pulled Natashas shirt down and she smiled softly. "Would it be better if I sat outside your door for you to sleep?" Natasha shook her head before grabbing Carols hand. "It would be nice if you stayed in here, wether in the bed or not, I just don't want to be alone."
Carol squeezed Natashas hand gently and then moved to the other side of the bed where she sat down with her back against the headboard. She watched Natasha move just enough to place her head in her lap. Once Natasha was comfortable, Carol began to play with her hair to help soothe her nerves. "Get some sleep, I'll wake you when Steve gets here." However, Carol didn't get an answer because she heard a happily snoring Natasha. "Sleep well, pretty girl."
