Parking his car and turning it off, Steve stared at the blurred neon bar signs as he listened to the beating of the rain hit the windshield. With a groan escaping his lips, Steve turned around and looked in the backseat. He was thankful enough that he kept his black windbreaker in his car, and so he grabbed the polyester like material and tugged it free from buckle it was wrapped on and let it fling forward. As Steve wiggled into the jacket, he pulled the hood up and slid his keys in a pocket and he opened the door.
The rain had seemed like it wasn't going to subside anytime soon, so he knew he was going to stay a bit longer at the bar than he planned. As Steve stepped out and slammed the door shut, he heard the engine of a sports car roar in and he turned quickly around. The driver seemed reckless as they drove in fairly quickly. Water from a puddle near by splattered up on Steve's jeans and he narrowed his eyes. "ARE YOU SERIOUS?!" His voice became loud and he was directing from the puddle to him showing the driver what they have done, but he didn't expect them to care or do much of anything about it. With a roll of his eyes, Steve stalked into the bar irritated beyond disbelief.
It didn't take Steve long to spot Sam and when the two old friends reunited, Steve's mood changed immediately. Ordering a beer for himself and Sam, the two men sat near the pool table and watched the people filter in and out. "So, how have you been?" Steve almost jerked hearing Sam talk. Glancing at his friend he sighed. "Honestly? Not well. Sharon and I moved here, as you know, and I'm just not ready. I don't know what to say to her anymore. She's so obsessive and she wants to start a family. I DON'T WANT TO START ONE." Steve slammed his head into the tabletop and shook it slowly.
"I don't even love her, Sam. She's not my type, but she came in at my hardest moments and now...now we're here." Steve say up and rubbed his forehead before glancing at his friend. Sam couldn't help but laugh at Steve for acting slightly childish. "Steve, you'll figure it out. You always do. For now, tell her that you're not ready for kids, even if she is. She can't FORCE you to have kids...she needs you to do that. If she doesn't like that you want to wait then she's obviously picked the wrong person. Does she still track you?" Steve grabbed his phone, opened the app, and shook it in front of Sams face. "You tell me." Sam shook his head while rolling his eyes. "Dude...you need out."
And out Steve was going to be because, just as he turned to grab his beer, his eyes met a pretty little blondes and they shared a soft smile. From that moment on, Steve would keep his eyes on her all night not knowing what very well could transpire between them in the future.
