Steve carried Natasha into the building and looked at Tony with concern. "What if Sharon is here? Tony this place isn't safe." Tony shook his head and then motioned Steve to head up to Fury's office. Obeying the unspoken command, he went up to the office. Natasha was bleeding out more than he imagined and his shirt was now soaked in her blood. "Keep breathing my love, we're going to get you help." The moment Steve walked into Fury's office he was not only greeted by him, but several other his Avenger friends.
Wanda Maximoff stood there a bit more paler than she anticipated, but she quickly moved things off of Fury's desk and motioned Steve to lay Natasha down. "She'll be okay Steve." She couldn't promise that Natasha would make it, but she had to be positive. Soon Carol Danvers made her appearance with a pillow and blanket. She tucked the pillow under Natashas head and wrapped the blanket on her arms and neck to keep her warm. "Don't worry pretty girl, you're in good hands." Carol looked back at Steve and nodded softly.
Steve turned and walked to Fury and shook his head. "Where is Sharon? We can't have Natasha here. What if-..." Fury held out his hand and looked at Steve sternly. "We've tried tracking her down, Steve. Sharon is missing. She either left the state or she's out of the country. I've tried tracking her, but she's off the grid. I have everyone watching this building. Natasha will be safe here. Once we get a doctor in here and patch her, she can stay with Wanda or Carol or she can even stay with Thor or Clint. She'll be safe."
Steve looked at the desk and he saw Natasha slowly beginning to become paler. "Where is the doctor?!" And before Steve could get angry, a man in a white coat walked in and looked right at Natasha. "Oh, she doesn't look good." He then waved in several other doctors and nurses with medical supplies, in the office and they all circled Natasha. Steve closed his eyes and found himself praying that she would make it out alive. "I need everyone to leave, except for one of you..." Steve went to speak, but Fury took the place instead.
As everyone walked out, Steve looked at Carol and patted her back. "Good to see you again. How are you?" Carol glanced at Steve and smiles softly. "I'm good. Just been trying to figure some stuff out. Besides this whole thing, how are you?" Steve shrugged and looked down at his shirt. "Honestly? I'm doing ok, I guess. I just want Natasha to be okay, you know? I really like her and I just...I want her to be safe." Carol nodded and grabbed Steves shoulder. "She's going to be fine, I promise. She is in the best of hands. We're your family and if you love this girl, then she's our family too. Not a single person is going to harm her with us here."
Time passed and the sun had set. If their day was like a normal day, he would be at the hotel with Natasha and they would be making love. But instead, his wife went insane and tried to kill Natasha. Finally the door opened and the doctors looks drained. "How is she?" "She's doing well, surprisingly. She lost a lot of blood, but we were able to do a transfusion with what we brought with us. She has a few broken ribs from when she was stabbed, and we had to inflate her left lung as it collapsed. She's sleeping on the couch, but you can see her."
Steve quickly left the group and went inside to Natasha. He couldn't believe his eyes when he saw her looking so lifeless. It pained him to know that the woman he loved almost died. Going to the couch, he sat on his knees and ran his fingers through her blonde hair. "Hey...you made it darling. I'm so sorry I didn't protect you when I should have. I'm sorry that I failed you. God, Natasha...I just...I'm sorry." Steve moved his hand to cup her cheek and then he moved to hold her hand. "Baby, please wake up..."
Natasha felt Steves hand on hers and the sound of his voice made her heart beat a bit faster. She was fighting to get out of the dark tunnel she was in, but the moment she could see her way out, she ran. Her eyes slowly opened and she looked at Steve and weakly smiled. "Steve..." But she soon found his lips on hers and she chuckled softly. "I forgot to tell you..." Natasha took a deep breath again, wincing in pain. "I love you." Steve smiled and kissed Natasha lips softly once more before pulling away completely. "I love you too."
