Carol had kept playing with Natashas hair while she slept. She found it cute that the little assassin needed someone to be with her while she slept; she found it even cuter that Natasha felt at ease by her touch. Slowly, Carol began to gently rub Natashas face with the back of her hand, just enough to keep Natasha feeling safe. Her fingers went back to playing with the blonde hair that was naturally wavy in spots. With a soft smile, Carol placed other hand on Natashas arm and gently gave her a squeeze.
Her heart ached for Natasha and she wanted to help protect her at all costs, but she knew that wasn't possible. While Carol began to think about how to help besides sitting in bed holding the woman, Steve had walked in and was standing in the doorway. "So she's cuddling with you now?" With a chuckle, Steve looked at Natasha and smiled. Carol looked up at Steve and nodded. "Shhh, she's finally asleep." Steve furrowed his brows while watching Carol slowly move out from under Natasha. Making her way to the door, Carol nodded Steve out in the hall, where she soon met him.
"She hasn't slept in awhile. I'm scared for her. She isn't healing properly, she's barely eating, sleep is foreign to her. I don't know what to do for her. I'm worried that she'll get worse before she even remotely gets close to being better." Carol wrapped her arms around herself and looked back at Natasha. Steve leaned against the doorframe and watched Natasha as well. "Maybe she just needs someone to be with her. When did she shower last?" Carol looked up at Steve and pressed her lips together. "Four days ago. I tried earlier, but she fought me. Life is just draining out of her."
Steve sighed before stepping into the room. "I can take it from here, Carol." Carol nodded and turned down the hall and headed back to her living room where she would curl up on the couch with Goose and watch whatever was on the television. As she walked down the stairs, Carol couldn't help but think what Natasha said earlier. 'It's like you have magic fingers.' All Carol could think about was how she should have responded 'You have no idea what these fingers can do.' Shaking her head, Carol made her way to the living room and plopped down with Goose and sighed quietly.
Steve walked over to the bed and gently lifted Natasha up. As he sat down in the bed, he curled Natasha up in his lap and he held her close. The feeling of her body against his made him smile. He missed her so much and he just wanted to be with her every second of the day, but he took it upon himself to protect her until she was better.
Natasha sniffed and her eyes quickly opened. "Steve?" Looking up at his chiseled face and big blue eyes, Natasha smiled and pushed herself closer. "I've missed you." Steve held Natasha tightly as he stroked her back. Her spine was surfacing more than before and he felt worry hit him. "Natasha...have you eaten anything?" Natasha looked up and nodded her head. "A peanut butter sandwich and some chips. Why?" Steve shifted a bit in the bed while looking down at his beauty. "Just curious."
Looking over her shoulder, Natasha frowned. "Where's Carol? She said she'd be here. Not that I'm against you being here, I just...I liked having her company. She smelt like flowers...it was a nice change from smelling leather and woodsy scents." Steve raised his eyebrows before laughing. "Are you telling me I need to smell like flowers for you to enjoy having me here?" Natasha shook her head before cupping Steves cheek. "No. I like your smell. I like having you here because, I can do this..." Natasha pulled Steves face closer to hers and she kissed him deeply.
After a few minutes the kiss broke and they both had goofy smiles on their faces. "I can't kiss Carol. I mean I can, but I won't. I like kissing you and only you." Steve kissed Natashas nose before moving her to the bed and moving himself down to lay down next to her. As soon as he did, Natashas head was on his chest. "I'm glad because, I like kissing you too." Steve wrapped an arm around Natasha and he began to rub his thumb over her arm; and while doing so Natasha fell back to sleep and began to dream her worst nightmare possible.
