when jaebeom shuffles his way into the kitchen, his mother is there, already preparing breakfast. "what are you making?"

"just cutting up some fruits. i went on my morning walk and stopped by that bakery on the corner and ordered us some fresh bread to eat with some butter and jams."

"sounds good, but i'm going to make some eggs for seulgi too... do you want some?"

"no, i'm okay." yeeun states. "are you excited for your third child?"

"i am."

"i am too... more kids to spoil." yeeun laughs, "i'm really proud of you. you have your own business, a great family... you're doing well, all by yourself."

"thanks, i had some pretty great influences." he teases. "where are you and seulgi going shopping?"

"we can buy baby things. that's something we can agree on at least. our love for the kids."

"yeah... how come you don't like seulgi?"

"it's not that i don't like her. she's sweet, a great mother and she loves you, what more can i ask for?"

"then what's the issue?"

"she took you away from me... too soon. imagine how i felt when my college age son tells me that he met a girl that he wants to marry. i was terrified! at first, i thought it was an older woman, who was using your innocence to manipulate you! then you bring home this cute girl who's the same age as you home, and my first instinct is that she's pregnant and you're both rushing into this."

"you were about... two and a half years too early for that hypothesis." he teases.

"i know... and i guess i should be thankful, but i was just worried. you never really brought around any girlfriends, and the first one you did bring around, you're absolutely crazy about and it freaked me out. you're my only son, and i just wanted to make sure you were thinking clearly."

"i understand and i appreciate it... but at the same time... you have seulgi convinced you think the complete opposite."

"no i don't."

"you do. you tell me that you think she's a great mother, but she thinks all of your unsolicited advice is unwarranted and kind of rude, maybe even passive aggressive."

"i am not passive aggressive!"

"you're also not the nicest." jaebeom accuses, "mom, you know you mean a lot to me, and no one can ever change that ... but i'm an adult now. my priorities have changed and i have to put my wife and my family first too."

"you really are all grown up." yeeun teases, patting jaebeom's cheek. "i'll talk to her later and apologize for my behavior."

"that would mean so much to her. here she comes." jaebeom states, recognizing the shuffling that comes from the hall.

"good morning." seulgi greets as she makes her way into the kitchen.

"good morning! seulgi! did jeongin grow overnight because your belly is so big!" jaebeom clears his throat and yeeun frowns. "was that rude?"

"i'm not sure..." seulgi admits, walking over to jaebeom and hugging him as he leans down to kiss her good morning.

"i meant in a good way? that he's growing well, and you have that nice pregnancy glow." yeeun explains.

"thanks..." seulgi replies carefully, suspicious, judging by the look she gives jaebeom who just chuckles as he presses more kisses against her forehead. "what's for breakfast?"
