"You haven't been home in days girl. Where have you been?" William shouted. He had gained a lot of strength since the last time Ellis had saw him. "Have you been with that Blythe boy?"
"His names Gilbert!" Ellis snapped, earning a smack to the cheek. Ellis' hand quickly cupped her cheek in shock.
"You are a disgrace to this family." Pops shouted angrily. He swung at her once again, this time dangerously close to her eye.
Ellis' eyes brimmed with tears and she ran out of the house.
She cried all the way to Gilbert Blythe's house. She was sure that he would help. That he would let her stay at his again, like he did when his father died.
"G-G-Gilbert!" Ellis sobbed as she banged on the door. "I ne-need you please!" She cried. Tears streamed down her face. Her Pops hand print left a huge red mark and a bruise was forming on her eye. "Open up p-please Gil."
Ellis tried to open the door herself, but it was locked. He wasn't in?
Ellis went over to the windows and hoped Gilbert left one open accidentally. All Gilbert's things were covered up in white sheets.
