Ellis stood at the front door, Carter sorted out her hair and dusted down her dress as the other brothers circled round her.
It felt wrong that Ernest wasn't stood with the rest of them, his back straight and shoulders stretched to show how much taller he was. It felt wrong.
"Are you nervous?" Franklin asked trying to take on the big brother role as he too tried to make his back straighter to show authority.
"A-a little" Ellis nodded scanning the rest of them as they had this proud look on every single one of their faces.
"Look at our little sister being all smart" James laughing messing up her hair with a rub which made Carter curse at him for ruining his creation.
"Do you remember everything that you're supposed to?" Patrick questioned and Ellis nodded although she was worried that the pressure would make all her knowledge fly from her head.
"Remember you're a Bennett, and us Bennett's are incredibly talented in a wide variety of subjects" James said sarcastically partnering it with a wink which made Reuben pull back his hand and sleep him across the back of the head.
"Now go, you don't want to be late" Franklin urged nodding his head towards the door. Ellis opened it and Carter followed her out, he gave her a hug and as he rested his head on her shoulder he whispered,
"Ernie would be so proud of you" he reminded and Ellis pulled away a little testy eyed. She nodded at her older brothers and then set off into a sprint to make it in time.
Once she got to the school everyone was already stood waiting outside, all apart from Gilbert who hadn't seemed to show.
Ellis nodded towards Ruby who was relaying information over and over again to try and get herself to remember it.
The girl was quick to notice that Moody was hyperventilating into a brown paper bag and so she advanced towards him and placed a calming hand on his shoulder.
"I'm dying! I can't breathe! My heart is beating too fast!" He panicked and so Ellis grabbed him rather forcefully span him to look her dead in the eyes and forced him to take a much deeper breath. "Why isn't Gilbert here?"
"It's probably just nerves" Anne said towards Moody who had rested his head on Ellis to try and catch his breath "Try to occupy his mind" Anne suggested toward Ellis who nodded understandingly.
Charlie quickly grabbed the brown bag that Moody had limply in her hands and opened it to vomit into the bottom. Ellis gagged and tried to move Moody so he didn't see what was happening.
"Diana! What are you doing here?" Anne asked and Moody looked up from Ellis' shoulder to look towards Diana who had ran towards them.
"I'm taking the exams!" She announced towards the others "hurry and talk me through the topics" she said shaking her hands with exhilaration.
Moody was muttering times-tables in her ear when he looked up from her shoulder and saw the examiner, he moved the girl to one side so that he could say to the others without deafening her,
"The examiner!"
The examiner in his bowler hat walked past a briefcase in hand and a stick in the other, as he entered the hall Charlie vomited again into the bag to which everyone grimaced.
The examiner made the others stand and wait for him, he then returned to look specifically at Ellis, the girl felt her heart begin to pound as he singled her out.
"You" he said "you are in a different room" Ellis nodded obediently, feelings her cheeks redden as the others stared at her. "Go in" he ordered and the girl began to walk towards the opened door at the end of the hall.
"You've got this" Moody whispered to the girl as she passed him and so she sent him a smile saying,
