"Did you have fun at Coles house?" Ellis questioned as Carter walked in. He had checked on Cole every day for the past week as well as going to finish the painting.
Their brothers all worked on the farm and decorating the house, even though they didn't want too.
It was a tradition.
"F-Fun? I was checking on his wrist." Carter mumbled, not wanting to tell Ellis about the almost kiss that nearly happened with him and Cole. "When we're you going to tell me about Gilbert?" Carter said quickly changing the subject.
Ellis glared at Carter.
"When we're you going to tell me you were gay?" She raised her brow and Carter turned bright red.
"Wh-what-wait!" Carter stuttered in shock.
Was it really that obvious?
"Aww, look who's stuttering now." Ellis said in a patronising tone. Her brothers used to tease her when she was little for stuttering when she read. "How's Cole's hand?"
"Yeah. His h-hand and his-he's fine." He stuttered once again.
"Well, you're much more like me than I thought Carter Abel Bennett." Ellis chuckled as she went to walk off to her room.
"Well, at least I don't fancy Gilbert Blythe!"
Ellis found that she had stopped walking and turned to face Carter. Once again she was so close to commenting on how attractive Gilbert Blythe actually was, but she panicked and quickly fled to the safety of her room.
