"Where am I?" I asked, mind hazy as I woke up from what felt like an awfully long nap.
The touch of cool metal radiated on my arm. I looked down at it too see a hand, comprised entirely of metal, grasping my arm lightly. I decided not to question it.
"Doc, she's awake!" A man yelled beside me. Nurses and doctors rushed in and immediately went to checking my health through machines. I turned my head towards the unknown man at my side.
Tilting my head slightly, I asked, "Who are you?"
Through a single phrase, I watched his heart shatter through the reflection in his eyes. "Who am I?" He echoed softly, voice crackling under pressure. "It's Bucky, your-"
"Bucky? I don't remember that name..." I trailed off and stared out the nearby window. "Where am I?" Trying to sit up, wires pulled from my body.
"Lily, you need to stay there," Bucky gently pushed my shoulder down.
"She seems to be suffering Retrograde Amnesia, she isn't going to remember a lot," the Nurse stated, leaving a hand on Bucky's shoulder.
I leaned back down slowly and took a deep breath.
"Can you ask her simple questions you know the answer to so we can access how major her amnesia is?" The nurse told Bucky.
He nodded, "What is your name?"
"Lily Prescott."
"Where are you from?"
"Eugene, Oregon."
"Where do you live now?"
I furrowed my eyebrows and thought hard, however my head began to throb as soon as I did. "I don't know."
"What do you do for a living?"
"I..." Closing my eyes, memories I knew were there refused to be revealed. "Wait, I live in Manhattan now.... I work for a convenient store on 5th ave."
"No!" Bucky exclaimed, shaking my arm lightly. "No, you don't! You work for-"
The nurse interrupted, "Mr. Barnes, please do not push her, it will not help her remember."
He groaned and reconfigured himself. "Who is your boyfriend?"
"I don't have one."
"She doesn't remember anything. This is useless! What am I supposed to do!" The man stormed out of the room, leaving me in utter confusion, feeling lost.
The nurse suddenly came into view, as other nurses unhooked me from the various machines in the room. "Your vitals are fine. We are going to airdrop you to the Avengers Tower."
"The what?" I replied as the nurse stepped away, reaching for the phone.
"Mr. Stark? We will meet you at the helicarrier."
--
I sat in a wheel chair as the wheels squeaked against the ramp of the helicopter. My hair whipped around in the wind as a man came into view.
"I'm meeting Tony Stark? The Tony Stark?"
He tapped something on his phone and shoved it in his pocket, "Lily, we've met-"
"Mr. Stark this is such a great honor, I've been studying your research for years-"
"Save the introductions," he interrupted. "Let's bring you inside and we can sort this out."
