The blank sketch pad sat in front of Kevin, staring him down, as if it was mocking him for not filling the page. His creativity was nonexistent at the moment, thoughts were occupied by a certain small, brown haired boy who claimed the title of his soulmate. Why was fate making things difficult for him? Why couldn't he just live a happy life with his true love? Each life he had to relive the struggle of not being able to call the other his own.

His hand started moving the pencil along the page, the graphite creating line after line, soft and hard, rounded and straight. The page began to fill and the image slowly began to appear. When the doodle became clear, he realized where his thoughts lead his drawing's creation.

Jacob.

Kevin sighed, placing his pencil down once he finished the sketch. He stared at the picture. It was like luck was never wanting to be on his side. Something always came up in each lifetime as to why the two couldn't be together and it frustrated him so much.

It had been a couple of weeks since the two last saw each other at the grocery store. Kevin promised the older a coffee meet up, but they forgot to exchange numbers and he hadn't seen the other at the museum in a while either. Nothing was working out in his favor.

The buzz of his phone had startled him from his thoughts. He glanced at the phone screen and noticed it was Eric calling him. Sighing once again, he decides to answer it.

"Hey, Eric."

"Kevin! Your boy keeps asking for you. Why is it that I'm always here when he comes, but you're off? Should I just give him your work schedule?"

Kevin chuckles into the phone. He maybe kind of liked the idea that Jacob was always looking for him.

"That's okay. I'll let him know. Hey are you busy today?"

"No, just finished my shift and was going to go shopping for a bit. Did you want to join?"

"Could I? I need to take my mind off things."

"Yeah, I'll come by in a few to pick you up."

With that, they both hang up. Kevin was happy he could spend some time with his friend outside of work. He could have more of a chance to actually talk without having to worry about their boss getting mad at the two talking on the job.

As soon as Eric had arrived at Kevin's apartment, the two were on their way to some of the malls by their neighborhood.

"So?"

Kevin looks over at Eric, who was sat in the driver's seat of the latter's small car.

"Yes?"

Eric clicks his tongue, "Don't play dumb with me. What's going on with you and your art boy? You seem distressed and he's worried about you every time he comes in. What happened between you to?"

The older turns his head to stare out the window at the passing scenery. What was there to talk about? Oh, yeah. I'm falling for Jacob and I want to give him kisses and all of my love. I want to make sure he knows how wanted he is and I want to make music with him and share hot chocolates with him. Oh wait that's right, he has a boyfriend. Jokes on me.

"Kev?"

"Sorry, lost in my thoughts. Well, you know how we're soulmates? Apparently, he has a boyfriend."

Eric looks at me for a moment, eyes wide. Kevin knew what he was thinking because that's how he felt when he first found out.

"Damn that's rough. How many lives have you spent chasing him?"

"Too many," Kevin sighs, continuing to stare out the window.
