As Jacob walked home, he checked his phone. Earlier he noticed it ringing incessantly, but he didn't want to be rude to Kevin and take it out.

Why was his boyfriend so insistent to get in contact with him? Jacob was frustrated because he remembers telling the other he would be out for the day, busking. He never listened.
"Jacob?! Where are you?" A familiar voice that belonged to his boyfriend shouted into his ear. "Oh god. I was worried, why didn't you answer? You know what, never mind. Come home now. It's late out." Jacob didn't even get a chance to say anything because the other hung up. It almost sounded like he was crying, but Jacob wasn't sure. There was always something dramatic about his boyfriend and it was stressful to live with.
He dragged his feet as he neared his house. The idea of turning back to go to Kevin was way more tempting. Reality set in, though. He had to return to his boyfriend.
"I was so scared. Why do you always have to go out for a long time? I don't know where you are. It makes me feel like you're going to leave me." The moment Jacob walked through the door, his boyfriend immediately started venting out his feelings. That part didn't bother Jacob. In fact, he was glad the other could be transparent, but it just felt as if he was trying to purposely make Jacob feel bad. He didn't like it.
"Well, I told you earlier I would be out busking. I got caught up playing and lost track of time. I'm sorry I worried you I wasn't trying to." Jacob tried his best to calm down his partner, but it didn't seem to be working.
"You aren't sorry. You wouldn't do that if you didn't want to worry me." His boyfriend had turned his back to Jacob. This was starting to make Jacob anxious. He hated when the other got like this.
"I really am sorry. I love you a lot I don't want to hurt you." Tears formed in Jacob's eyes slowly. He tried to keep them down.
"No you don't. You don't love me. Stop lying to me. You're so disrespectful to me. I'm done talking. I'll be in my office so leave me alone." The sneer on his boyfriend's face was ingrained into Jacob's memory. This wasn't the first time they went through this. It always ended in Jacob being the bad guy as he sobbed by himself in his room.
Maybe there was no love left.
He thought back to when the two first got together. They were actually best friends. As close as two peas in a pod whenever they were together. Their friends influenced them to be in a relationship since they were practically soulmates. Everyone said it was hard to find a connection like theirs these days so they shouldn't waste it.
That pressure caused a rift between them. Jacob wouldn't lie, he missed his best friend. Their friendship wasn't like this at all. Maybe all they were meant to be was friends, nothing more.
