"Didn't you say your dad called off the engagement in a month?" Jimin asked, on the car ride home. The dinner was delicious, and both were almost feeling like they were going to have a food coma.
It was probably best to sleep early. Maybe.
"I guess I wasn't clear." Chaeyoung sighed, looking out the window. The sky was dark, the moon could be seen. The swaying of the palm trees was oddly calming to chaeyoung, and all she wanted to do was have some silence to herself. However, she wanted to clear things up, the discussion wasn't expected tonight regarding this topic. "He wasn't involved in the cause of my break up. He made it clear he wasn't happy with my relationship though. And so when I told my parents not to worry since the relationship was over, my dad said "I was going to give you a 2 months to break up with Jungkook anyway. Also, the engagement won't happen anymore."
"Just like that." Jimin spoke.
Chaeyoung nodded her head. "Yes, just like that. No explanation for the reason for the end of the engagement."
"So, that's when you became officially single." Jimin clarified.
"Yes. My dad got what he wanted. Like you said, I was officially single, I hate saying this, but I was going through an emotional roller coaster, desperately wanting to erase every memory of him in "our" home." Chaeyoung did air quotes as she emphasized the word. "Plus, my engagement with you was called off. I was happy about the engagement but I obviously wasn't happy about...the other part." Chaeyoung blinked multiple times, preventing the water that was slowly forming in her tears to fall down her cheeks.
She wasn't THAT upset. IT's like her body was thinking otherwise.
Or maybe two eyelashes happened to be in her eye.
Jimin didn't want to ask why they broke up. It wasn't in his place to do so. But he had a strong feeling, since Chaeyoung didn't deny anything, Chaeyoung had no idea why the relationship was over. And how odd, that it happened around the time the engagement of Jimin and Chaeyoung had ended.
What perfect timing.
"Oh trust me, I'm happy the engagement was called off too." Jimin smiled, "I didn't even know about it anyway. It's just an odd way for me to find out now. But going back to the set up, it doesn't 100% mean that your father called it off. My parents could've been involved as well." Jimin had no fucking clue, but to him, it made more sense.
Chaeyoung had never thought of this before.
"But it makes sense for my father to make the decision. At least he sounded like he was the one who made the decision." Chaeyoung reasoned out. "But there is another option. Your parents may have thought, Jennie was the better option since my bestie is a rich queen. Not to put money as the source."
