Title: Should've Taken the Bus
season 3

Y/n - your name
Jen - friend name1
Margo - friend name2

Note - aaaaa. Any other name in here is not derived from a real person and if it is anyone you can recall, it is purely coincidental. <3 I had to revise this chapter because, well, I just don't remember humans ever talking the way I originally had them.

ON THE FIRST DAY back to school, you meet up with your friends and catch up with them. There was always something to talk about with your friends, it never got boring. You wouldn't label yourself as a popular kid, but, that's pretty much what you are. Kinda. It's mostly your two friends carrying the popularity for you. For some reason, they decided to keep you around after meeting in middle school. You like to think you bring something to the social table, though.

A couple weeks into school, a new kid had joined. Normally, nobody would really care, or even notice. It's just a new kid. But some people took a liking to him, he went up the 'social ladder' of high school pretty quickly. Right now, he's sitting at a big table filled with a bunch of other popular kids. They get loud and rowdy, but you're not one to judge (unless it's a quiet seven AM, and they somehow decided that crack was a good thing to do at an ungodly hour in an ungodly place. That's a joke. I think).

Your friends buzz on about him during lunch.

"He's so cute. I heard his eyes are green," she leans in as she speaks. Jen is all for the lighthearted gossip. You don't think you've ever heard her talk badly about anybody.

He was, from start to now, undeniably handsome. That's just the facts, there's no reason to be a hater. Still, you thought he would be just another person that you could admire from afar. Never talk to, or interact with at any level. You listen to them while you stuff your face with food until you are called upon.

"Y/n," Margo says, startling you, "he's in one of your classes, right?"

See, that thing about how I said I thought he would just be somebody I could admire from far away? This is why I can't. He's in my class. Well, he's actually in two.

You give a quick nod, swallowing your food before you respond.

"Yeah, two of them. Chemistry and Engineering class. He's really smart, answers all the questions given to him real quick."

It's a little more than that. Neither of us have officially talked to each other. Which, you don't mind that because you don't really officially talk to anybody else in class unless it's for a project.

But... for some reason, every time you raised your hand to answer a question, his hand would shoot up too. He seemed eager to beat you to the answer. Then it became a competition of who got their hand up first, for the teacher to call on an answer.

"Oh, so he's a nerd?" Jen asks.

"Well I mean, I don't know. I'm in those same classes, so I mean—"

"So you're a nerd?" She asks, rephrasing.

"Well I mean you're in APUSH right now so I don't know how you've got the gall to call me a nerd—"

Her eyes widen, "No but that's so cute! you're in two of the same classes, don't you love engineering? That's how you know you have shared interests, cause it's an elective." She sounds giddy, for some reason.

Margo, who is taking several AP and Honors classes, says, "That would literally be so adorable. Two cutie little nerds. You two would be so cute together."
