Brain freezies and glances

Nothing too special was happening at the very moment. I was just talking with a teenager who wanted to know where fiction books were. I directed her to the back and that's where she went. My day went like that, telling people where books were, selling books and such.

I went to the break room around twelve and a part-timer took over. I began to eat my sandwich, scrolling through my phone. I began to text Devi,

'How are you feeling today, Dev?'

Three dots came and went, came and went, eventually revealing Devi's text message,

'I feel alright, as per usual. I did paint today though, thanks for asking :)'

I smiled before shutting my phone off. I stuffed it inside my pocket and finished up my sandwich. I washed my hands in the sink and I slapped myself a couple of times.

"God, I'm bored."

I said to myself. I pinched the bridge of my nose and I shut my eyes tight. I pulled out my phone again and stared at the different designs.

"I'll never get used to this phone."

The phone turned on and it showed me the time.

"Oh, breaks over."

I said to myself before rushing out, stuffing my phone in my pocket on the way out. I walked over to the counter as the part-timer took off for the bathroom.

I rested my head on my hand and waited for someone to either come and ask me if I could help them find a book or they need me to sell a book.

From the corner of my eye, I could tell someone was walking around, pacing but trying to stay out of view. I didn't pay too much attention to that because a lot of couples go here as a date.

Pass by the store to buy some bread.

I thought myself, remembering all I needed to get for myself.

Ooh, I should take a bath when I go home

Thoughts of boredom engulfed me entirely and I did nothing but daydream. I finally saw someone walk towards me and I snapped out of my thoughts. Nny was standing in front of me and I smiled at him,

"Hey, Nny! You here to buy another book?"

He began to tap on his hands and I could tell he was anxious.

"Actually-it's a weird question."

I entangled my fingers with each other and smiled,

"Ask away, I love weird questions!"

He looked at me for a second before smiling, looking down at my hands,

"What are your thoughts on brain freezies?"

It took me a second to process what he just said. It was just awkward silence between us when I was processing and I immediately broke it once I realized,

"I love them."

His shoulders relaxed and he smiled,

"Would you like to get one with me today?"

I nodded my head and began to tap my fingers on my hand.

"Sure!"

I smiled sweetly at him and he looked at his shoes. There was silence again and he looked up again,

"Um, after that,where would you-"

I smiled at him and touched his hand. He tensed up immediately as I looked into his eyes,
