It was the next day and I was now at work. I told my boss that Devi got the flu and couldn't come to work but I would be glad to work double for her. He eventually agreed so now I had to check if all the books were on the right shelf.

I walked away from the counter as one of my coworkers took over.

I walked over to the cookbook section, running my fingers along the spines of the books.

I pulled one out and stared at the cover. The book was nothing special, just a children's book about animals.

"People find enjoyment in the weirdest ways."

I perked my head up at the unfamiliar voice and I smiled at the remark. I turned towards the voice and it was a slender man. A bit tall and dressed in all black. Seeming remarkably familiar for some reason

"Funny."

I smiled at him, putting the book back,

"Are you new here?"

I asked him and he shrugged,

"I wouldn't say that."

I furrowed a brow slightly before I returned back to my happy expression,

"What may I help you with?"

I asked him as I saw him hold his hands behind his back,

"I was wondering where you keep the horror novels. I went to the usual spot but I believe you guys moved it."

I nodded, remembering which sections were moved.

"Right."

I walked in front of him and he began to follow me.

"You have any horror novels in mind?"

He nodded his head at the ground.

"I found a really interesting one once. Didn't want to buy it at the time."

I nodded my head and I found the section.

"Which author are you looking for?"

I asked him as I began to scan the shelves,

"Stephen King."

I smiled, finding which section he was looking for,

"Great choice."

He bent down to reach one of the books and I gently nudged his ribcage with my elbow,

"Not planning on killing someone, are you?"

He tensed up and I found that odd.

"No, I just enjoy reading horror novels."

I shrugged and smiled,

"It is going to be Halloween soon."

He smiled and we both walked to the counter. I walked up behind it and I smiled at him once more,

"This is it, right."

He chuckled lightly as I rang it up,

"11.42."

He handed me the cash and was about to walk away,

"What's your name?"

He stopped and turned around,

"It's Johnny."

I smiled at him one last time before I waved slightly,

"Hi Johnny, my name is Y/N."

He smiled before shrugging,

"I'll see you around, Y/N."

I waved goodbye to him as he walked out of the store. I smiled slightly as I began to tap my fingers on the counter. He honestly seemed pretty cool, not to mention he had a pretty awesome style of clothing. It kind of reminded me of Devi's choice of clothing.
