"Hey, I dunno if you know this, but sticking stuff in someone's eye socket is kinda uncomfortable." S-1 stated, wriggling in the chair he was seated in. "It would be easier if you would stop squirming." Gaster retorted, fixing the last of the wires into place in and around S-1's eye socket. "Sorry, for some reason it's hard to relax whenever you're near my eyes. Can't imagine why." S-1 said humorlessly. "Yes yes, you'll just have to survive somehow. Stay still." Gaster sighed. "what are you even doin' anyway?" S-1 asked, wriggling around. "I'm setting up focal points for the magic matrix," Gaster explained. "Once completed, they'll deliver a low-level magical pulse through the dedicated area." He finished, rolling back on his chair and plugging in the cords into a monitor set up against the wall. "and... why?" asked S-1, looking at the cord trailing to the monitor. "do you even need a reason for the stuff you do?" he asked. "I'm hoping it will draw a response from your SOUL and rekindle the eye." Gaster answered, rolling back over to S-1. "You're trying to fix me?" S-1 asked, frowning slightly, as Gaster bent over in the chair and picked up a little hand-held control panel. "Yes. Your broken eye does me no more good than it does you, you know. It's very inconvenient." "Inconvenient-" S-1 began angrily before Gaster interrupted him. "Physical damage is one thing, but impaired eyeglowing opens up a whole new host of potential emotional problems to deal with. And as you've probably gathered, emotions aren't my strong suit." Gaster Continued to explain calmly to S-1, fiddling with the panel. "Did... you just make a joke?" S-1 asked with an even bigger frown. "Now, stay still and try to relax." Gaster told him, ignoring the question. "It should be relatively painless at this intensity, then as time goes on-" Gaster continued before he was cut off by a massive explosion that launched him back into the wall as the monitor malfunctioned and left him with his ears ringing. As Gaster regained his senses he looked over to S-1 to find half of his face gone, leaving to a ragged hole of bone. "no no NO!" Gaster yelled, scrambling over and putting his hands on S-1's head and chest. Then a green glow emitted from Gaster's body as he began to attempt to heal S-1. "I... I can't maintain this." Gaster said breathlessly, picking S-1 up in his arms and running into the room as S-1 let out a pained groan. Then Gaster entered the room where the chambers that S-1 and 2 had been created stood, still and silent. Running over to the closest one, Gaster placed S-1 in it and closed the glass walls as the bright blue embryotic liquids began to flood the chamber, suspending S-1 in the center as two brain monitoring cables came down and attached to S-1's skull. Then, panting, Gaster sat down and lent against the chamber, panting loudly. Then his phone buzzed and he took it out and looked at it, It was Alphys. With a groan, he pressed answer and held it to his ear. "Yes, Alphys, what is it...?" he asked still slightly out of breath. "Yes, I'm alright... it just startled me, that's all. Well, if the power is still on, then the Core must have stabilized. Do you have any readings from before the surge...? Yes, I'll meet you over there. Just... give me a few minutes."
