Sapo-sapo ang mukha, tumakbo si Lee papunta sa entrance ng private tables sa 2nd floor. It still stings. Unang beses niyang masampal sa buhay niya kaya and she feels somehow disoriented. Even her left ear is still ringing na parang wala siyang marinig.
But despite all that she's feeling, hindi niya puwedeng sayangin ang mga oras na binigay niya kay Arlene. Not just because she really wanted the job, pero nakaabala siya ng tao para lang sa schedule na ito. So she tried to push her emotional state of being behind her to run after Julius Javier.
"What happened there?"
Lee waved her hands to dismiss her questions. Kailangan niyang makausap si Julius once and for all!
"Saan na siya?"
"Bilisan mo, girl. 'Pag akyat niyan, hahanapin niya pa silya niya kaya mas mabuting maabutan mo na siya bago pa siya makaupo."
She gripped Arlene's hands firmly before she let go.
"Thank you." She mouthed. Napakalaking utang na loob ang binigay sa kanya nito just for this chance.
Mabilis siyang tumakbo paakyat. He immediately saw his silhouette blocking the entrance.
"Julius..." She whispered as she came beside him.
Mabilis namang napatingin si Julius sa kinatatayuan niya with a surprised look on his face. But she expected it. Na magulat ito at makulitan. He had that WTF look on his face dahil c'mon, she wasn't supposed to be here pero sobrang makulit siya.
She is already expecting an earful from him when his eyes suddenly darted on her cheek. His expression suddenly changed.
Kahit madilim, the handprint on her face is really really visible.
"Anong nangyari diyan?"
"Ha?" Lee touched her face again. Ngayon, mas nararamdaman niya na ang sakit. "W-wala..."
"Did my secretary do that?"
"W-what? No?!" Lee shaked her head vigorously. What a weird way of thinking! Ito na nga ang tumulong sa kanya pero ito pa ang nasisi. But she couldn't squeal anything because it might cause Arlene her job. But Lee has to make sure that Arlene wasn't blamed. "Iba nakagawa nito... Hindi sinasadya..."
Hindi din pala niya masisisi si Julius for thinking that way. As a secretary herself, she knows that it is their job to be a gatekeeper to all the people who wanted to meet their boss. Pero hindi niya naman akalain na ito agad ang iiisipin ng dating ka-schoolmate.
"Hindi sinasadya?"
At this point, Lee is already glad that their conversation has reached this point. Naalala niya how she was served with indifference back at the reunion. Baka kailangan niyang magpasalamat sa sampal. Kahit sobrang sakit, it was a blessing in disguise.
