Tony. Is. So. Exhausted.
(Don't worry, this won't be all about a tired Tony. Just keep reading.)
The engineer sighs, staring down at his tablet. He barely registers the sleeping Avengers around him. There are empty chip bags and drink bottles all in the floor of the RV (driven by Jarvis), but Tony can't find itself in him to care about the expensive exterior being ruined. He'll clean it up. Later.
He rubs at his tired eyes, then brings his hand through his hair, stressed. Pepper was visiting family so he gave her the month off, but then SHEILD demanded new upgrades, the board of directors pushed more work at him, and the villains decided it was time to try and take over at least twice everyday.
Fury called him into his office after an Avengers meeting and sat across from him, studying Tony's face. It made Tony a little uncomfortable. He also had work to do.
The man finally said, "You and the rest of the team need a vacation. I've already got a date set and the Fantastic Four called to take over for a little while. Do you have any ideas?"
So, the vacation was planned. A road trip.
Jarvis stopped the RV and Tony looked up out the window. They were in front of a grocery store, one Tony suggested they stop at. Since the others were still asleep (he takes a quick picture of Clint drooling on Bruce's shoulder), he got out and headed to the store.
The early morning sun was almost blinding to his eyes after staring at his StarkPad for so long. Thankfully, there's only a few cars around so Tony should be able to get in get out.
He did. For once. There was only a small problem with the check out lady asking to go on a date over and over.
Tony is in a happy relationship with Pepper and that is exactly what he said. Almost exactly. It got him a really sour face but he was able to get out of there.
He was greeted with a bleary eyed Bruce and a wide eyes Steve when he got back to the RV. Tony just raised an eyebrow.
"We needed more groceries."
They help him unload, both of the others glancing at him as the rest of the team wakes up. Jarvis started driving. Clint and Natasha start preparing breakfast while Thor went up to sit on the top of the RV (he liked doing that while they were on the road.).
After breakfast, they all sat down on either the couch or around the table. Clint, Bruce, and Steve were playing uno while Tony, Natasha, and Thor sat on the couch. Tony was in between the two other heroes, answering emails from the board of directors and finishing up the last of the blueprints for SHEILD.
He didn't notice Thor keep glancing over his shoulder to look or Natasha doing the same. He had thought they were occupied by books (Nat) or the TV (Thor).
"Anthony, what is this called again?"
"What do you mean?" Tony responded, not looking away from his StarkPad.
"This." The long haired blonde waved his arms around in the air. This time, Tony did look up, confused.
"... an RV?"
"What are we doing in this RV?"
"Whatever?"
"Why do you choose to work during vacation?" Natasha finally asked for Thor who was trying to work up to the question. Eyes snapped to him.
He tried to play it off, rolling his eyes. "This isn't work. I love making skematics."
Natasha gave him a blank look. "For the hellicarrier? I heard some agents talking about all the new upgrades your doing. That's a lot of work."
