The ride was uneventful and relaxing.
That's a lie. It will always be a lie when the Avengers are around, especially Tony and Clint.
The self dubbed "master pranksters" became bored ten minutes in. Clint had his headphones on and was bopping his head lightly to some music, but it still didn't quench his boredom. Tony got bored of playing games on his own phone at about the same time.
So, like all tech geniuses would do, he hijacked Clint's phone with his own and changed the music to "Baby Shark."
The archer blinked and yanked off his headphones at the annoying music, accidentally making some of his hair stick up in the process.
Tony couldn't stay straight face. He grinned and snickered, making Clint glare at him. He tried his best to give an innocent smile, but failed.
Unbeknownest to them, Natasha was watching through the rearview mirror warily. When they caught her eye, she glared at the mischevious smiles. They strunk back a little and Clint put his headphones back on. Tony released his music back to his new rock.
Old rock was better than new rock, in Tony's honest opinion, but he didn't want to risk Natasha's silent wrath again. Yet.
Tony got back on his phone and texted Pepper.
Tony: where are we going?
He got a reply almost immeadiately.
Pep: Your favorite resort on Long Island Beach. I rented out a private area for you all. You shouldn't be bothered too much.
Tony: thank you, Pep. I think this is going to do wonders for the team. I think Cap's warming up to being away from the city.
He glanced at the Captain in question, who was looking out the window with a relaxed posture. He had his sketchbook in hand and was tapping the pencil lightly against it.
Pep: I hope so. It sounds like you guys need a break.
Pep: Get some rest, Tony. Jarvis said you didn't sleep much last night.
Tony: I'll try.
Pep: I have to get back to work.
Tony: Aww
Pep: Love you
Tony: Love you, too.
The genius smiled softly down at his phone before switching to GPS and typing in the location. It would take five hours to get there with current traffic, which was worse than usual.
Great. Just great.
Tony put his phone down beside him and leaned his head back, suddenly more tired than he had been. They hadn't eaten breakfast yet and he hadn't gotten the chance to get more coffee.
Before he knew it, he had drifted off to sleep.
-
Now Clint knew Tony was tired. He knew Tony needed to sleep.
And he wouldn't disturb him.
But the man's phone was right there, and after he messed with his... it was only fair.
So, taking one second to glance and make sure Natasha wasn't looking, he grabbed Tony's phone and changed all his ringtones with "Baby Shark." Satsified with himself, he put the phone back.
Tony was in for a surprise.
-
The genius woke up when they were about five minutes away from their destination. He could almost smell the sea water through the car and knew it would be a nice time off.
