Honestly, the mission wasn't as bad as Tony thought it would be. They caught the baddie and locked him up. No civilian had been hurt, thank goodness.
But it was still bad.
In the process of taking down this new baddie who had the power to make boulders appear out of thin air and throw them, they had destroyed two very large buildings.
Now they were in a debrief with a high-level SHEILD agent that Natasha and Clint didn't like. The agent, Brad or something, was screaming at them about damage even though Tony had already agreed to pay and even before that he had called the Stark team on site to help.
Tony's phone vibrated for the 124th time in his pocket. More emails. More texts. More missed calls. Maybe-Brad was red in the face as his eyes zeroed in on Tony.
"Pay attention, Stark! This is important!"
The trillionaire was unusually silent, not able to come up with a quip. Though that might be because of the dented arc reactor and concussion. Of course, no one knew about that.
But his head was really starting to hurt. He could hear his heartbeat in his ears, pounding out a fast rhythm as the sharpanel had slowly started to move. It wouldn't be dangerous for a while since the reactor wasn't fully disconnected, but it's still dangerous.
"Hey, don't yell at him. He didn't even have his phone out." Steve said, trying to placate the man. Clint's jaw was set in a way that said he was ready for a fight. Bruce and Natasha kept mostly neutral expressions, but Tony could see the little bit of green in the scientist's eyes and the twitch of Natasha's wrist, a tell she was frustrated and worried.
But why would she be worried?
The red head glanced over at him, a strange expression on her face. Tony didn't have time (or maybe he did and his brain is just being slow) to decipher it before she had turned back to the purple-faced, furious agent.
"You destroyed a city!" The agent yelled for the millionth time. The room was starting to tilt a little. Or maybe it was him. Or maybe it was just his vision.
It takes his brain a minute to say none of these are good things.
Steve folded his hands on the table. "It was not the entire city. The buildings we destroyed were on accident. If you weren't yelling so much, we could be on the scene to help clean up and rebuild."
Bruce looked at him suddenly. "Tony, could you give me your phone?"
Said man was confused but reached into his pocket for the object. He handed it over to the scientist, hoping that the light tremor in his arm was only his imagination. Or maybe it was his vision too.
Bruce flicked through his phone, mumbling to himself. Tony could hear the name of his faithful AI son some times. Then, a hologram appeared over the table, filled with little pages of tiny words.
"These are all emails from the Stark Team clean up, Stark Industries, and Pepper Potts. He isn't playing on his phone. He's doing something important."
"But he's also talking to his girlfriend." The agent was only trying to stay mad, in Tony's opinion.
A tiny hand grabbed onto his and he slowly looked to his right. Tasha had his hand in hers, two fingers resting on his pulse point. She had slid over, but Tony didn't know when.
"Tony? Are you hurt?" She murmured.
Clint rolled over in his chair silently as maybe-Brad was distracted by feuding with Bruce over that 'while Ms. Potts is Tony's girlfriend, she's also CEO of Stark Industries'. The archer got on his other side, between Tony and Bruce, but slightly behind Tony and started examining his head with nimble fingers.
