Bring trapped in an elevator with Nick Fury and Agent was the last thing place Tony wanted to be right now.

He felt absolutely horrible. His head was pounding and he was hot and cold at the same time. He couldn't stop coughing and each one hurt his chest. He had survived the meeting, only to get trapped with the people he had the meeting with.

Ughhhhhhh.

Why is this part of my life?

Ugh.

The elevator had to malfunction, today of all days?

Tony leaned against the wall after ten minutes of standing up straight. It wasn't a minute later before head sliding to the ground in the corner of the elevator, like Coulson was.

Fury insisted on standing up and his cloak was doing that weird thing where it billowed without wind.

Strange, cool, and creepy.

Tony sighed and resisted the urge to undo his uncomfortable tie. He still had to look at least a little professional.

He tapped the edge of his glasses and let some equations for his next suit upgrades come up in front of them. The blue holograms made his eyes water and he swiped them away, thankful for the dimness of the elevator emergency light and his sunglasses.

Unknown to the genius, Coulson and Fury were watching him closely out of their peripheral.

Nick Fury went and sat down beside his agent, on the side Stark was. He tried to get a good look at the engineer and could tell he wasn't tip top shape. But it frustrated him to no end that he didn't know why.

Phil Coulson found it odd and eerie that Stark wasn't rambling away and already trying and possibly having already succeeded in making the elevator work himself. The man was pale in the little bit of light.

Nick and Coulson began a quiet conversation, watching the genius.

"He doesn't look good." Phol started quietly.

"He was a little off at the meeting. Not as talkative. He's sensitive to light, judging by the way he swiped away those holograms and that he hasn't taken those sunglasses off."

"He usually wears his sunglasses inside, sir."

"Still."

"His palor is sickly," Phil said. "Do you think he is ill?"

"It's a possibility." Fury said thoughtfully.

Dr. Stark's head lolled to the side to press against the elevator. His hand stopped tapping away its previous rhythms and fell limp.

Either Stark was asleep or pretending to be.

Phil didn't know which he preferred, as if he were asleep he might be resting but hen they wouldn't get him to speak of his condition, but if he was faking then he might have heard them.

Slowly, Nick Fury leans forward and puts the back of his hand to Tony's forehead. He promptly grimaces, pulling away.

"Sir?"

"He's running hot. You may be right about him being sick," Fury says as he takes off his cloak. He hands it to Couslon and the agent looks at him with an eyebrow raise, Coulson's version of astonished.

"Wrap that around him while I go notify the staff of this." He paused. "Don't look at me like that, agent."

"I knew you cared, sir." Said Phil with a small smirk as he tilted Tony forward a bit and wrapped the cloak tightly around him. He felt the heat radiating off the man's skin and felt the pit of worry grow in his stomach.

"I can have you fired, Coulson."

"But you wouldn't."

He gets no reply and knows he had won, but there are bigger things to think about.

Coulson can hear Fury quietly yelling over the phone to get people to hurry up. The director glanced back at them every so often, eyes scanning them. Phil placed his own hand to Tony's cheek.

"He's getting worse." He said just before the elevator lights came on fully. Phil rushed to put the clock's jacket sleeve over Tony's eyes when the genius started to stir, face pinched.

Fury quickly turns the lights down and goes back over to them, crouching. The doors are opening and two medics are coming in with a stretcher.

"He'll be fine." Fury said. And he knows it.

Phil nods because he knows it too.

He just hopes they will never have to experience being trapped in an elevator with a sick genius again.
