Unloved (Eric x OC Divergent)

Part IX: The Calm

-Florence-

I take his hand and drag him with me through the corridors, back towards my apartment where my bed is calling for me so hard I can hear it from here. 
"Does she really want me to come with you?" he asks, smiling slightly.
"Yes she does."
"Why?" 
"Because she's Shauna." I smile thinking of how I saw her already planning the party in her head, just to get me to invite Eric over.
"Don't your friends hate me?" 
"They will have to get over it."

He goes silent for a few seconds, seemingly going over his options, when he decides on his answer: "Yes, I would like to go with you." He places a kiss on my cheek and puts his arm around my shoulder, pulling me into him. "Good, I was hoping you would say that." I can't help but smile up at him. Bringing him to meet my friends doesn't worry me in the slightest, Shauna is right, if he's going to be a part of my life, he will inadvertently be a part of theirs too and it better happen sooner than later.

After walking for what seems like an eternity, we reach my apartment and I open my door, swinging into my living room in one go, dragging Eric in behind me. The moment the door closes, he pushes me up against it, taking a deep breath before whispering "Finally" before kissing me passionately. I run my fingers down his back and reach underneath his shirt to feel his warm skin, he immediately follows suit, slipping his hands under my top, resting them on the small of my back while he leaves a trail of kisses from my mouth, down to my neck and rests his lips on my collarbone.
After a few moments, I can feel him let out a small sigh as he pulls back and smiles at me, his eyes kind and playful. "What?" I ask him, making him laugh.
"Even though I want to continue this more than you know, I should probably let you sleep first." He continues with a small chuckle: "Just to be sure you're not delirious and I don't feel like I'm taking advantage of you." He obviously likes his own deduction and holds me at arms length to put strength to his words. I pout but to no avail, he's not budging and I decide to let it go for now. 

I take a quick shower, leaving him waiting in my bedroom. I take off my scrubs and let the water cleanse me until I feel like the whole week washed off of me. I put on a tank top and knickers before leaving the shower and walking to my bed. When I walk in, Eric is already in there, just wearing his boxers again, looking ready to go to sleep with me, holding up the blanket for me to jump in. The time sync is off for me as I ask him if he's going to sleep too, not realizing what's going on, which makes him smile.
"I took the day off Florence, there was no way I wasn't going to be here when you finally finished work" he says softly and lightly, still holding up the blanket for me and waiting for me to connect the dots. My brain takes a few moments to process the information given to me, but then it clicks. "That's...so sweet" the words come out as if I was doubting his intentions, but I'm not, I just wasn't expecting this level of commitment yet and my sleep-deprived brain needed a minute to figure that out. I quickly get into my bed and nestle up to the same spot I was the last time I slept for a substantial amount of time, resting my head over his heart, planting a kiss on his chest and stealing his warmth. He pulls me closer immediately, kissing the top of my head and then my forehead, pulling me up higher to kiss my cheek and finally placing a soft kiss on my lips. "I've waited for this all week" he whispers, running his fingers down my back and along my arms. "Me too" I admit, laying so comfortably in his arms makes me even more sleepy and soon I feel myself slipping into dreamland. 

"I'll be here when you wake up". It's the last thing I hear before falling into a deep sleep.
