San was on his way to his bedroom, lost in his thoughts. He was sure Wooyoung would never want to see him again. He couldn't blame him though. He was a monster after all. He had every right to run away from him. He knew he had lost him. There was no way Wooyoung would still love him. He'd probably try to kill him.
But what he saw when he opened the door to his room, was something he didn't expect."Wooyoung?" San looked at the figure that was sitting on his bed. Why was he still here? "I ... I thought you had left?"
"I want an explanation." The blonde said, looking at San who sat down next to him.
"You'll hate me." The brunette didn't dare to look at the younger. He was scared of his reaction.
"I just want you to tell me what the hell happened there. Please, just tell me the truth." He hesitantly took San's hand in his own, hoping he'd be more comfortable around him by that.
"Only if you promise me not to get scared or run away from me." San took his hand away from the younger and moved a bit further away when Wooyoung came closer.
"I can't promise you anything, San. As long as I don't know who or what you are, I can't promise that."
"Then I won't tell you. You'll leave me, once you-"
"What can it be that I'd be scared of? We've been together for what? Eight months? If it was that important or noticible, you would've told me or I would've found out. I'm not stupid, San."
San's eyes glowed red when his gaze landed on Wooyoung's neck. He had to control himself, but he wanted to show it. "You never noticed this before?" He asked, interested in how good he had been able to hide what he was. He hoped it wasn't too obvious.
"W-what- I thought it was the light that- What are you?" Wooyoung was weirdly calm after this. He has to stay calm to not hurt San. He knew they needed each other and something stupid like this wouldn't ruin it. He needed San, as he was the only positive thing in his life right now. He knew it wasn't that easy for him to tell about this. It was a secret that he'd rather had kept for himself a little longer.
"You still don't know?" It felt as if someone was choking San at that moment, all the things that could happen, running through his head. He never knew it would be this hard to tell him. "Don't scream, okay?" He hesitantly opened his mouth a bit, showing his fangs. He wasn't looking at the blonde, but felt his movements on the bed. He was scared to look up. He was scared to see fear in Wooyoung's eyes, to see hatred towards him.
When he looked up, mouth closed again, there was a much bigger distance between them, Wooyoung staring at him with wide eyes.
"Don't give me that look, Woo. I know I'm a monster. You don't have to tell me. N-now leave, I don't need you to throw hurtful words at me or keep looking at me like that. We-""How did I never notice that?! We kissed so many times and ... When you laughed! How could I miss that?!"
"They only appear every once in a while. When I'm hungry for example, or sometimes they appear randomly. Now you know why I never wanted to laugh and covered my face whenever I did." He whined.
Cute. Wooyoung thought, smiling at the older. "But ... May I ask ... What exactly are you?"
"What do you think?" San asked carefully.
"I don't know ... Demon? Werewolf? Vampire?" Wooyoung tried, hoping it was one of the three options.
"What the- A werewolf?! Are you serious right now?!"
"It could be ..." Now Wooyoung thought he sounded dumb. He just should've said he didn't know and let San answer.
"Red eyes, fangs, super-strengh and you think of werewolf?! I feel attacked." San made a fake-hurt face.
"I wasn't thinking, okay?" He pouted, embarrassed by San's reaction.
"Vampire."
"Hm, what?" Wooyoung asked, confused at this sudden confession.
"I ..." He took a deep breath, it still being difficult to say out loud. "I'm a vampire."
"How? I mean, what happened that you- You know what I mean ..." Wooyoung stuttered, still thrown aback by San's words. He didn't know what to say.
"Aren't you scared?" San was confused too, not expecting Wooyoung to be this calm about it all.
"If you wanted to kill me or suck my blood or whatever, you would've already. So I trust you. But can you tell me how it happened?"
"I ... I can't remember clearly. It happened only a few months before I met you, though. It was dark when I walked back home from ..." He looked as if he was trying to remember something but shook his head before continuing. "I was walking home and I crossed the street. Then a car hit me, Mingi saved me by biting me and now I'm here." San confessed, not really sure about that day himself.
"So it happened quite recently? Are you glad he bit you, or ... I don't know how to talk about this ..." Wooyoung pouted, not knowing what words to use in order to not seem rude or hurt the older.
"At least I got to meet you because of that so I guess you could say I'm glad for that. I'd rather be a normal human, but I'm not and I can't change it anymore. But at least I got an amazing family out of it and you." San answered, holding one of Wooyoung's hands in his own. He couldn't express his love for the younger enough, but he did love him a lot.
"Can you tell me more about the others? I'd like to know what they are like or what you think about them." He smiled softly.
"Sure, who do I start with?" At that moment a knock was heard on the door and was opened just a second later.
"You're still here? Did he tell you? I wanted to check if San was okay, but I guess he is." The tall blonde said after seeing the duo on the bed. He was glad Wooyoung let San explain because he'd hate himself seeing the brunette sad.
"Yeah, I thought that I had to give him a chance to explain. And if he wanted to bit me, he would've done that already." Wooyoung smiled at the blonde.
"Thank you for not running away. I promise we're not like how they say we are. We only drink animal blood and if we can, we try to let them live. If you ever have questions, you can always ask either San, Mingi or me. We'll try to give you an answer." Yunho smiled before turning back around to leave the lovers alone.
