24. The Attack, Part 1

Tsukasa left the room, and is met with Yui Narumi, Konata's aunt.

"Oh, Kona-Chan's aunt... What's up?"

"Tsu, we need to talk. Your parents and your 2 older sisters went missing."

"What!? Do you know where they went?"

"They said that they were heading to the sports field, cleaning up some corpses but never came back."

"Let's look for them, then. You've got any weapons?"

"No, but your axe seems enough." Yui pointed to the axe on Tsukasa's back.

"But we don't even know who are we gonna see there aside from my family."

"Just hope the Field's safe."

Both of them proceeded to go to the fields where the other Hiiragi family members were last located.

There are some zombie corpses on the field, presumably the university's former students and employees.

They walked along the spectator seats until they find blood near a zamboni.

"Is that a tractor?" Tsukasa asked.

"Nope. That's a zamboni, used for making lines for a sports court."

"But I thought that zambonis are only used in skate rinks."

"This one's modified to draw the court lines. It seems like there was a track team race before all this happened." Yui adjusted her glasses, as she explained.

"I see. Then what's with the blood near--"

There they find a shocking scene. Tsukasa's mother, Inori and Matsuri were all shot in the head with arrows. As for Tadao, he had his head smashed in with a concrete block.

Tsukasa tried her best not to cry.

"Tsu... I'm sorry... I didn't--"

Then, out of nowhere, an arrow flies right through Yui's head, killing her instantly.

"Got one!" A voice shouted.

"Get that other one!" Another one continued

Tsukasa quickly hid behind the zamboni. She takes a peek from above the zamboni to see figures with helmets armed with crossbows from a distance.

"I don't know you!" Tsukasa shouted.

"So?! We don't care!" The attackers replied.

'OK, it's not that easy...' Tsukasa sweat dropped.

This caused Tsukasa to go back to cover. She tries to push the zamboni, but it couldn't move. She noticed that the engine is off, and there's a brick in front of the front wheel.

"Behind that court liner!"

"We have an agreement! Now you're screwed!"

'So someone did set up a deal with these pricks!? By sneaking our medicine out!?' Tsukasa concluded mentally.

Tsukasa hurriedly swiped the brick away, and turned on the engine using the key which is left on the ignition. She then placed the brick on the acceleration pedal, letting the zamboni drive itself.

Tsukasa stayed behind the zamboni as it treks itself to the entrance that Tsukasa and Yui came in before.

As soon as the zamboni reaches a wall beside the entrance Tsukasa ran in.

"She's escaping!"
