Hailey went over to the phone in the guest bedroom, and quickly started to dial her mom's number. The only thing on Hailey's mind was calling her mom to let her know that she was going to be coming home. Hailey took a deep breath as she waited for her mom to answer. Eventually, she did.

"Hey, mom."

"Hailey, you sound sad. What's wrong?"

"Mom, I'm coming home."

"You haven't even been there for a real long time. Are you sure you're okay?"

"Yea, I'm fine. I'm just going back home. I was feeling a little homesick, I guess."

"You could've just talked to me on the phone any time when you were feeling homesick."

Hailey sighed. "Well, I wasn't thinking of it." She said. "Anyways, I'm coming home."

"Hailey, something's not right. You sound s—"

Hailey instantly hung up and put the phone back down. The next person she knew she had to talk to was Scarlet. She got up from her bed and left the room. She saw Scarlet watching television with Charlotte.

"Hey, Charlotte, is it okay if I talk to Scarlet about something?" Hailey asked. To her relief, Charlotte seemed nice about it and nodded. She seemed to be in a completely different mood than she had been before. She seemed a little happier.

Scarlet looked at Hailey. "What is it, Hailey?" She asked, heading over to her.

Hailey sighed. "You're going to be sad when you hear this, but I have to go home." She said.

"Why?" Scarlet asked, a frown forming on her face.

"I've just been missing my family over in America." Hailey answered, though not truthfully. "I've decided that I should keep them company."

"Will you come back one day?" Scarlet asked. "I'm going to really miss you. You were a fun person to hang around with."

Hailey sighed. "I'm not sure." She answered. "It would be nice, though."

"Can I draw you something real quick before you go?"

Hailey nodded. "Of course." She said. "That would be nice."

A smile spread on Scarlet's face as she turned around and headed off to her room.

"I couldn't help but overhear the conversation."

Hailey turned around and saw Charlotte looking at her. "Are you leaving?" Charlotte asked.

Hailey sighed and slowly nodded. "Yea, as much of a tragedy as it seems, I have to go." She answered. "My family misses me, and I miss them."

Charlotte slowly nodded. "I see." She said. "Well, it's sad to see you go. It was nice having you here. Scarlet's really going to miss you. She seemed to really enjoy you staying here."

"I'm going to miss her too." Hailey said.

A few moments later, Scarlet appeared with paper. She hurried over to Hailey and gave the paper to her. "Here." She said, looking up at Hailey with a smile on her face. Hailey smiled and looked at the drawing on the paper. It was a drawing of Hailey, stick-figure style. Hailey's smile grew, and she actually felt happy.

"This is honestly better than I could do." She said. "Thank you, Scarlet."

Scarlet gave Hailey a hug. "I hope you can come over again one day." She said.

Hailey only began to feel sad again as she realized that it didn't seem too possible that she would be able to visit Scarlet again. Hailey didn't think she would be returning to Pangbourne. "I hope so too." She said.
