"You are not alone, Ryan Beaumont." I say; we were so close - our lips nearly touching. I knew he was expecting a kiss but I couldn't, pulling away to Rye's disappointment.
"I'm sorry. I-I gotta go!" With that I grabbed my things and walked passed him, down the stairs where I quickly said goodbye to his mom then out the door.
In the cold night at almost 9 PM, knowing my mum was gonna kill me I ran as fast as my legs could carry me. I couldn't help the stray tear that ran down my eyes.
Believe me Rye is attractive, he's not such an asshole when you get to know him. But I know it'll never work out.
Arriving at my house I quietly unlocked the door, entering; hoping my mum wasn't awake. Creeping up the stairs the living room light suddenly turned on, revealing my mom sitting in a chair in front of the TV. The way she practically sunk in the chair makes me believe she's been there for hours.
"Where have you been?"
I rubbed the back of my neck, "At a friend's house." Replying. She weakly smiled as she reached over to pick up the photo of my father...before he passed.
"Did you ask me?"
Scoffing I crossed my arms against my chest; "Why should I? You never talk to me. Never ask me how school is going, did you even notice that I got a license? I'm trying to find a job to pay for my own car. Oh! You didn't know? Probably because you've been drowning yourself in all this fucking liquor!" Screaming with every word coming out like a waterfall, my mother glared at me; her eyes puffy with tear after tear running down.
"I-" She began speaking but I stopped her. "Don't. Don't even try to make an excuse."
Going up to my room, not wanting to her anymore of her shit. I knew what I said probably put her through a crisis but I didn't care. I never really got to see my dad. Never really got the masculine figure in my life, it's just been me and my mom; I knew she cared for him, even if he wasn't around to love me. I mean why waste my time have my mum cry on my shoulder over a man who wasn't there when he was supposed to?
