Softie
''She is worse than Jungkook.''
People were whispering behind my back when they walked away from me and came walking in front of me. I had no idea what was going on. Why were they saying I'm worse than him?
Some girls were even laughing at me once they passed me. Some were pointing at me as if we were still in middle school. I didn't feel good at all.
It seemed like they were looking at their phones and at me. This seemed like the classic scene where the whole school gets a text about something, and that person's life will be ruined.
I hope it's not my life that is being ruined.
I quickly walked away from the scene. People also walked back to their classes. The break was soon over, but if people indeed received something, why I-
As soon as I thought about it, I picked up my phone from my pocket. It was on mute, so I didn't hear it ring, in case it did. And it had been ringed.
I opened up a message from an unknown number. And my worst fear had come true. It was indeed a message that could ruin someone's life.
And that bitch is me.
The message showed a picture of me standing at Minho's door the morning after the party. Someone had either followed me or just been there. They must think I'm with him because I ended up at his house, even after that horrible party.
The picture could and is telling more than a thousand words. You could figure out anything from this. But I doubt people are thinking that I went there to just tell him to fuck off. Of course, they thought we had an affair.
If this message came to the victim, it went to Jungkook, too.
And most likely, he was the one finding out first. He is the victim here now. And I don't have to think twice about who must have been sent this. Minho was there with me, so it wasn't him. But he has friends. Who knows if he has asked them to follow me?
To find the weak spot to separate Jungkook and me.
I had no choice but to return to the class and try to find Jungkook from lunch as planned. I need to explain to him why I went there. If he has any slight sense in his head, he knows it isn't what everyone thinks it is.
On my way, when I turned around the corner, I bumped into someone.
''Watch you m-'' the guy stopped as he got a better view of me. ''Oh, it's you.''
Yoongi watched me stumble on my place after bumping into his shoulder. I scoffed after his weird response. ''So you're not going to apologize for not watching where you were going?''
He chuckled while shaking his head. ''Why would I have to apologize to you? Or are you going to hit on me, too? Is being a bad boy one of your fetishes?''
''So you saw the message, too?'' I asked, crossing my arms and looking around.
''Of course, everyone got it. As Jungkook's friend, I shouldn't be here talking with you,'' He rolled his eyes. ''But even if I don't know you well, I know someone is setting you up.''
I let out a relieved breath. The last thing I want is for Jungkook's friends to start scolding me about something I didn't do. Yoongi has never been this ''nice'' to me. He always teases me or treats me like no one.
''And what makes you think that?'' I lifted my eyebrow. ''After all, you said it. You don't know me that well.''
He showed his iconic and unique gummy smile before looking at me. ''You wouldn't have reacted the way you did at the party. You wouldn't have cared so much.''
I sighed. ''Do you think Jungkook thinks that way, too?''
''Jungkook isn't the type of guy to believe something being sent to every person in this school, trust me. The whole purpose of the picture must have been to cause small chaos between the students,'' Yoongi explained, leaning against the corner.
''It's rather cowardly to send something you could send directly to the specific person to the whole school. Whoever did this wants people to be on his or her side when the time comes. Or they want to cause drama.''
Yoongi is right. We're not in middle school or high school anymore. Back then, this would have been a big thing. But I hope Yoongi is right.
Jungkook has already been scared of me leaving him. A month ago, he was still a playboy who would fuck around weekly and not care about anyone. Now I feel like he is the clingiest person I know.
No complaints.
But this might negatively affect him anyway. After all, I did lie to him.
''Don't worry. If it was Minho, he has a pathetic way of trying to win you back. I might be a dick sometimes, but I wouldn't even consider getting someone the way he is trying,'' Yoongi patted my back and walked off.
I looked after him before walking back to my class. I sure hope everything goes okay.
After the class that seemed to last longer than usual, I finally headed to the cafeteria. It was crowded already, and I was walking on the line while searching if the guys were there already.
I spotted them on my way to get food. I saw a few people sharing glances with me like they did in the hallway. Somehow, my heart was beating more rapidly.
I gathered my food and walked to the guys' table. All of them weren't here. Only Jungkook, Jimin, Yoongi, and Taehyung. Yoongi saw me first and lifted his head a bit like a greeting. That made Jimin turn his head around, and soon he smiled at me.
''We thought you'd never come,'' He gestured for me to sit with him. Jungkook was still munching his food, and he didn't even share a glance at me.
Strike number one.
I sat down next to Jimin and waited for him to say something. ''Hi.''
He lifted his head and did the same as Yoongi.
Strike number two.
Yoongi nudged Jungkook with his elbow. He looked at him for a while before continuing his eating. I sighed and started eating my lunch. Either he didn't want to fight in the middle of everyone, nor he was just a typical man who needed the food.
My guess is the first one.
Jimin looked at Yoongi. ''Should we leave them to talk?'' He whispered.
''Since when have you cared if you're present hearing other people's problems?'' Jungkook snapped. After that, he stood up and walked off. I sighed deeply before standing up and walking after him.
''You didn't need to snap him like that,'' I said after I reached him. He didn't go far. He waited outside the cafeteria because he knew I'd come after him. ''I didn't know you took the gossip seriously.''
''I didn't,'' he turned to me. ''But you did lie to me, why?''
I sighed and walked closer to him. ''I just didn't want you to worry.''
He chuckled and wrapped his arms around my waist. ''How classic. I'm just angry about how people are whispering about you. I'm used to it, and I don't care. But what about you?''
''Likewise,'' I answered. ''Yoongi made me realize it's only a burden to myself to think what others think. Plus, I have a pretty good guess who did it and why.''
He smiled while furrowing his eyebrows. ''Hyung said that? When?''
I laughed at how confused he was. Isn't he supposed to know him better than me? I took his hands off my waist and started walking away. ''He can be a softie.''
''That I want to see someday,'' Jungkook said before walking after hearing what I said.
People can surprise you.
I didn't know how surprised I would be once I found out who sent that message.
