Raven-

A growl rose up in my throat as I felt the swipe of his paw again. I looked down at my bloody arm and the new cut that was slowly beading with blood. I glared at Jason before reaching out to grab at him again. It's only been a few hours since his mate and the wolf I'm guarding were taken. I guess I'm not much of a guardian since I fucked up big time with this. I should have been watching him more and not gotten distracted by his pack on the hunt. I don't deserve being his guardian and I'm beginning to fear punishment from the gods for this mistake. He needs someone who can actually protect him.. They might even reassign him a new Guardian.

I pushed back the degrading thoughts as I fell back on the ground. Jason stood over me with his teeth bared. His eyes were crazed from the pain he was feeling at the loss of his mate, I could see a mixture of emotions swirling around. They all seemed to be battling with each other on being the forefront emotion. I gripped my hands around his head and pushed back. Jason wasn't having It, and immediately began fighting my effort and pushed against my hands. Pain rippled up my arm at holding back Jason's unmatched strength, I may be able to shift into many animals but I prefer my raven which doesn't give me much training in this kind of thing. I was no match for this wolf, and I desperately needed help soon.

I gritted my teeth as I pushed harder against him, the blood was steadily dripping down my arm at the extra force. His long white fangs were inches away from my face. One wrong move from me could be the end of my life.

"Jason! What are you doing!?" A loud voice echoed through the room.

Jason's head snapped up toward the voice. His eyes narrowed to slits as a low growl grew in his throat.

"Get off of him." The voice commanded, power was laced in every word yet it didn't seem to faze Jason. He simply snapped his jaws and continued his eyes of malice.

"This is not his fault! Get off of him now."

The large wolf stalked off of me and faced the intruder. His claws were digging into the hardwood floor as he was ready to attack. In a flash Jason was leaping through the air, I quickly sat up and saw the Alpha shift just before Jason landed upon him. I pushed myself up slightly as I blinked at the commotion before me. It all happened so fast that a simple blink could have caused you to miss it.

My eyes grew wide as the two began to fight in a bundle of fangs and fur. I took the opportunity to book it out of the room. I ran down the hall and collapsed on the living room cough, not caring if a bit of blood got on it. My breathing was labored as I thanked the gods for sparing my life. My eyes snapped open as I smelled new intruders.

"Raven! Are you okay?!" Juliet was stopped in the doorway, her eyes dropped to my arm before they saw my angered expression.

"Why do I smell an unfamiliar wolf." I seethed through clenched teeth. I'm becoming a bit sick of wolves.

"Raven calm down.. They are apart of the other pack whose pack member was also taken. The one with black hair and the vest is Seth, his mate was taken. He's here to help get them both back." Juliet explained, "Lets go get you cleaned up.. Come with me!"

She gently grabbed the hand of my uninjured arm and led me to one of the bathrooms of the home. She pulled out a first aid kit that was hiding under the sink.

"Sit on the counter while I cleaned up the wounds.. And explain what the hell happened."

I sighed softly before running a slightly cut up hand through my hair. "Okay.. well Jason's wolf is sort of taking over. He's not handling the loss of his mate that well and him and his wolf decided to pun all the blame on me. Especially since I'm supposed to be protecting him." I paused as my skin burned from her cleaning the wounds. I squeezed my eyes shut and awaited the pain to die. As it slowly faded away I continued on with the explanation. " So, now Jason and his wolf wanted my blood for the loss of his mate. Currently Jason and the Alpha are fighting in my room."

Her eyes didn't leave the wounds as she continued to carefully tend, "I can only imagine what it would be like to fear for your mates life. Don't take what he is doing to heart.. He's only thinking with his heart."

Juliet gently began cleaning a gash on my leg.

"You know, I thought you were only a bird shifter.. not .. everything."

"I prefer to say I'm strictly that.. It's rare I'll become anything else and it can be a lot more taxing on my body."

"Do you not heal fast like wolves?"

"Uh.. sadly no."

We both sat in silence for a few more moments while she continued to fix me up. I was very appreciative of her caring nature and gently touch but I knew better than to doubt the strength of her.

I thought back to the new pack, "How is the Seth handling this all? Is he being as bad as Jason?"

Juliet began wrapping my arms in a white bandage,. "Well Seth is actually his mates Guardian.. Oh! His mates name is Ash by the way. Anyways ... the reason Seth is so calm is because Ash left a note behind explaining the situation and assuring him that it's not his fault.. And I guess a perk of being a Guardian is you can handle these stressful situations much better than us normal wolves." She finished wrapping and stepped back, examining for any missing spots. "He said it also helped keep those around more relaxed and level headed." She paused, "Wait.. shouldn't you know this!?"

I chuckled softly, "Hey hey I didn't exactly read the books on 'Mind Of A Guardian'. I have more important things to do. But it seems my whole calming effect is a tad broken since I still was at the mercy of Jason's claws."

She laughed before cleaning up all the supplies, "Well you're all patched up! I think it's time we go and we with the new pack. We gotta begin to figure out of game plan!"

We left the room in silence. As we neared the meeting hall, we could feel the somber emotions from the wolves awaiting inside. The loss of our beloved white wolf was felt everywhere. Especially among the little ones of who he saved.
