Silverstar's P.O.V:

"Ouch." Silverstar winced as she limped to the medicine den. Her hind leg stung from the bite. A long line of Lightclan warriors stood at the medicine den, waiting for their turn. Nutwhisker was treating them because Waterfly was inside doing 'something' as Nutwhisker had explained it. Nutwhisker was always bad at lying.

Silverstar waited for her turn silently. She watched her wounded warriors go into the den and come out, one by one.

Why did Magiclan attack? Silverstar was so confused. Lightclan didn't want war. Maybe they were overreacting over the skirmish over the border with Stormflame?

At last, it was Silverstar's turn to be treated. She limped slowly inside the medicine den. She saw Waterfly's tail flicking from behind the rock where the herb store was, Nutwhisker stood in front, waiting for the next cat.

Silverstar silently let Nutwhisker treat her wounds. The medicine cat mumbled about her hind leg as he put herbs and cobwebs on it. Silverstar let out a small hiss as pain shot from her wound.

Nutwhisker mumbled, "Sorry." And rose to his paws. The medicine cat then examined her other wounds. These ones didn't hurt as much. Silverstar waited quietly for Nutwhisker to finish, then dipped her head in a silent thanks and limped out of the den.

"Wait!" Silverstar spun around to see Waterfly trotting after her, the medicine cats eyes were stretched wide. "Come with me." She led Silverstar back inside the medicine den. Her blue-grey fur looked messy and unkept as if she had been fighting.

They went back into the medicine den and behind the rock. Then a smell hit Silverstar's nose. Death. She narrowed her green eyes and looked at the nest on the floor by the herb store. "Sandkit?" She whispered in shock. "H-how did she d-die?"

Waterfly bent her head down and kept her gaze fixed on her paws, "He died from Greencough. I'm sorry for not telling you sooner but I didn't want you to worry about a kit dying while a battle was raging. What do we do, Silverstar?"

Silverstar managed to keep her voice strong and her head held up, "We check every single warrior, apprentice, queen, kit and elder for any signs of Greencough. We can't let it spread. We will tell the clan about Sandkit immediately and send her on her way to Starclan."

"Yes, Silverstar." Waterfly nodded and picked up Sandkit. She padded to Nutwhisker and repeated Silverstar's order and the two medicine cats set to work.

Silverstar padded out of the medicine den and watched as Waterfly presented Sandkit's limp body. She explained sadly how Sandkit had died fron Greencough and then ordered everyone to go to the medicine den for a checkup.

The clan bustled past Silverstar and into the medicine den. She watched Blazemoon and Loveheart lead their mewling kits through the crowd and Slowsky, Poppyfire and Bigstep padding slowly to the medicine den.

Silverstar saw Clearlight pad up to her. He had a torn ear that had dried, crusted blood on it. "We need to keep the clan calm or something bad will happen." The grey tom twitched his tail in irritation, "Demonpaw nearly ran me over in a blind panic to get to the medicine den first." Just to prove his point, Bluestorm raced past the two of them, nearly knocking them over.

Silverstar nodded, "Ok." She raised her voice, "Everyone listen up!! Keep calm, there is not need to panic. Fernpelt come here!" She sat back down again and watched for her deupty to arrive.

Fernpelt padded to her side, "Yes?" He seemed slightly uneasy around her and Silverstar narrowed her eyes but shook the thought away.

"Fernpelt, you will help Clearlight and I keep the clan in order and calm them down." Silverstar odered briskly, kneading her paws on the ground. "You work at the back. Clearlight in the middle and me at the front."
