Baby Shower

4 months later:-
Everything was going great, I was back to work which hush was not pleased about he said I should be at home resting but I want to work, I'll have enough rest when I'm stuck in the house after having the baby.

We decided on getting married after our child was born, oh I nearly forgot we also now know we are having a little boy, I wanted a surprise but Hugh couldn't deal with not knowing so I said we would find out.

Everybody knows now and mother and father seem happy for us even though mother seemed very hesitant which I really don't understand I think she is just scared for me, she has always said having a child is a big responsibility and that some couples can't deal with that pressure but I mean her and father managed to do it well enough so I can't understand her problem.

Sophia had organised my baby shower it was beautiful we decided on having it at mothers house since my aunts and cousins lived near her and so did Sophia.

Hugh was on business in San Francisco that weekend so Sophia decided it would just be ladies present plus it wasn't really a man's thing talking about baby's a and birthing plan and the worst part of all is when they all start telling you how horrific labour is and tell you the worst memories they have never mind the fact that I'm terrified and have no idea what was coming.

"Guest will be arriving at 2pm"

"Ok mother what do you think of this"

I was wearing a pale lemon maxi dress with sandals it had to be ok either way because that's all that fitted me comfortably and I mean sweat pants were comfy too but I wanted to look a little better.

"It's not like I couldn't look stunning your glowing."

"Thanks mother but the sooner he's here the better."

"Don't wish him here too soon ok"

"Why I wish I was holding him now."

"Yes but you want him healthy?"

"And he will be unless there is something like he can inherit that you have never spoke about!"

"Don't be silly Alex I'm just saying you don't want him to come now you still have a few months to go."

"Oh right of course mother I'm sorry."

Once we headed downstairs the lounge was pretty full with guest my cousin Lidia was there with her mother and younger sister Rosie and also my twin aunties Gladys and Greta they were mothers younger sisters and just as beautiful. Sophia was there with her mother and Francis come even though he was the only male but I wanted him there and of course my lovely nannie Blakewood was here too.

Lisa couldn't make it as Yasmin wasn't feeling too well so we decided we would catch up when she was better.

I hugged Francis tightly,

"I've missed you so much!"

"I know babe I've missed you too, how are you"

"Oh god Francis I was so scared!"

"Sssh not here remember"

" I know I wish I could tell her it's just too much for her or father to handle"

"We will talk later be strong"

"Yes your right Francis"

The baby shower was amazing Sophia really out did herself, the presents were great and I have to say I really had fun, all of a sudden the conversations turned to my birthing plan I told them I wanted pain relief if and when I need it, some agreed and some totally disagreed including mother saying natural is best, they also said for me not to have Hugh in the labour which made me feel angry,

"Why not it's his baby too!"

"It's not right darling it's a woman thing"

My aunt Gladys chirped in,

"I'm sorry but I think your wrong!"

"Alex have more respect for your ain't please!"

"I do have respect mother but this is mine and Hugh's baby!"

"Yes we know but you don't want Hugh seeing you in that state."

"I don't care and Hugh loves me regardless!"

"Just think about it."

"I'm sorry but I want Hugh there and that's final, thanks for coming but if you excuse me I'm tired."

I walk out the room feeling quite angry,

how dare they try and tell me who I should have in my labour room when the only person I want is Hugh why can't they understand that! Times have changed and I was going to prove it.
