One Step Forward

I woke early with Hugh raining kisses on my face, is felt on too of the world like for once things were looking good. I just hope Stan is a match!

I smiled at Hugh and noticed the time on the clock 10:00am, I thought it was much earlier the hospital are going to be worried I'm normally there by now!

I quickly sat up bumping heads with Hugh,

"Ow" he said rubbing his head with a smile.

"I'm sorry darling but look at the time I need to get to the hospital, I can't believe I slept so long!"

"Baby it's fine I've rang them he's doing great I've also rang Stan he will meet us at 1pm."

"Honest Jake is ok?"

"Jake?"

"Oh I sort of named him Jake I hope you don't mind I just thought it suited him."

"I think I like it Alex."

"Hugh I'm so pleased I feel like things are looking up for us, like there is light coming from this dark tunnel we have been trapped in for days."

"I know baby, I know I just hope Stan is a match."

"Hugh I do too@."

The car ride to the hospital was quiet which was understandable we were nervous and anticipating that this would be the end of our worry, well for this hurdle anyway because I think when you become a parent you never stop worrying, from the little things to the big and my mother always says I'm not too old to worry about and I guess I will be the same as Jake gets older.

As we pulled into the private car park I take in a deep breath praying to myself that this will be it, all I want is for my baby to come home and not have to worry about him getting the slightest fever or virus. Hugh touched my arm snapping me back to reality,

"You ok baby?"

"Yeh let's just get this done!"

"Ok I'm right by your side baby."

"I know Hugh that's why I love you."

Hugh reaches over and kisses my cheek I wish I could say it relaxed me but I was beyond nervous now and knew I just had to deal with what was coming.

We walked into the ward hand in hand I was glad to have Hugh there I don't think I could go through this ordeal alone. I walked to the nurses station,

"Hi there do you know if a Stan Knightly has come for his test yet?"

"Ah hello miss Blakewood he has not yet arrived but there is a woman in the waiting room for you."

"Oh ok would you let me know when he gets here?"

"Of course."

I look at Hugh who shrugs, I wasn't expecting mother and Sophia is on tour with her boyfriend so I can't think of who it could be.

I push open the door and cannot believe my eyes Hugh comes in and is just as shocked as me, I couldn't speak I didn't know what to say!

"Hello Alex!"
