Chapter 8
"Wait, what, how, where?" I tumble over my words. Jaime is looking at me with a puzzled expression and I can hear Mike saying something to Tony, but it's muffled. I'm in a frenzy; the boy who I have been stressing over for the past few days has finally showed up, and in the hands of my brother.
"What's going on?" Jaime stage whispers.
I hold up my hand to give him the signal that I'll tell him after I finish talking on the phone. I'm too distracted by the fact that Mike found Kellin to give him an explanation now.
"Hold up," I say, "How exactly did you find him?"
"Well," Mike starts off, "Tony and I were just walking when we came across him. Actually, when we saw him. We've sort of been just... Following him."
I put a hand to my face, sighing. "Good job, Mike."
"I didn't want to approach him. I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to be approached."
I suppose this is true. At a time like this, I can understand that Kellin may want to be alone. All I ever wanted was to be alone, but being alone scared me as much as being with somebody else scared me.
"So, what do you want me to do?" I ask Mike, because I know that he called me for a reason.
"Weeeeelllll," Mike drags out, and I can pretty much hear him glancing at Tony, silently asking for help, "I was thinking that since you really wanted to find him and you cearly like him-"
"I don't like him."
"That you could, you know, get your ass over here and talk to him. It'd just be weird if I talked to him and you showed up."
I sigh. It would be weird. It makes more sense if I walk around the area and 'accidentally' run into Kellin. Then, it wouldn't seem like I was looking for him and getting my brother to stalk him for me. I glance at Jaime, who's obviously eavesdropping.
"Okay, fine," I give in, "But you have to be far away, alright? Kellin can't see you."
"For sure, Captain." Mike says, giving me the location in which he's calling from. I get Jaime to type that into his phone, which he does without question, and I hang up, but not without a last 'stay hidden'.
I slip my phone into my pocket and start putting on my shoes. Jaime hands me his phone, so that I in turn can quickly copy down the address onto my phone once I'm done with my shoes.
"So, is this about Kellin?" Jaime asks, but it's more of a statement.
I shrug, trying to keep my cool. "Yeah, actually. They found him."
Jaime nods, raising an eyebrow. "Then I guess you should get over there quick." He gets up so that he can walk beside me to the door. He pats my shoulder encouragingly.
"Go get him, Tiger." Jaime says with a smirk.
"Oh shut up." I mumble, turning away. My cheeks are heating up; I repeat, I do not like Kellin. It won't ever happen again. I open the door and Jaime closes it behind me. I jog over to my car, opening the door and seating myself. I take a deep breath, centering myself before I back out of the driveway. I need to have an aura of calm; Kellin definitely won't be calm. You can expect two different kinds of reactions: Being dismissive and being sarcastic. Or, neither of those at all. He could have a completely different reaction that I'm not used to.
I find the location that Mike lead me to. I don't see him or Tony and I sigh in relief. If they screwed everything up, and it would be terrible. I find somewhere to park and get out of the car, my eyes roaming over the array of tents and vendors. A farmer's market. I wonder why Kellin would be here...
