You Deserve Someone Better

Ashton: It was the night before Ashton left for yet another tour. You two were laying in bed, a movie forgotten playing on the TV.
You had your arms wrapped around his neck and legs intertwined with his as he kissed you with everything he had. You felt tears forming because you knew this was the last time you could hold and kiss him for a long time.
As his hands explored under your shirt, the tears spilled over and you choked out a sob. Ashton immediately stopped and looked at you. “Baby,” he whispered, hurt and worry in his eyes.
You shook your head. “No, I’m sorry. Don’t stop,” you said, trying to compose yourself.
Ashton began crying himself, knowing he was the reason you were crying. He moved down the bed and put his face in his hands.
"You shouldn’t ever cry because I have to leave you. You shouldn’t have cry because you’re alone. Dammit you shouldn’t be alone, period." You reached for him but he moved your hand away.
"You deserve better," he cried softly. "Someone who won’t leave you or make you cry."
You pushed yourself off the bed and went to straddle his lap and put a hand under his chin to make him look at you. “There’s nothing better than you, Ashton. You’re such an idiot for thinking I could find better out there. I don’t mind being alone knowing you’re going to hold me again.” You laid your head on his shoulder and he kissed your neck.

Calum: You walked through the door of yours and Calum’s apartment. Dinner with your parents went particularly well, you thought. But Calum had been silent since your father had taken him aside for some guy talk and you had no idea what happened. Calum was taking off his pants off when you came in.
"What happened with my father?" You asked as you took off your shoes. He grunted in response. You asked again.
"Does it matter?" He muttered.
"Obviously since it upset you." He turned around and threw the pj pants he got out onto the bed.
"He said you deserve better than a punk in a rock band." Your jaw fell open.
"He-"
"He’s right, Y/N."
You sat up and crossed your arms. “No, he’s wrong. My dad has always been that, always intimidating the guys I bring over.”
"One, I don’t wanna talk about the other men your father has met besides me. Two, he’s right. I’m just a punk in a band. You should be with someone with a real career and…" You sighed and got up. You simply wrapped yourself around Calum, forcing him to pick you up. You wrapped your legs around his waist.
"I’d rather be with a bassist in an amazing band than a lanky doctor who’s boring. My father never really grasped me not dating the professional medical types."
Calum sighed and looked at your eyes, dead on. “I love you,” he whispered.
You smiled and kissed him. “I love you too.”

Michael: You slammed the bedroom door shut, no longer wanting to be anywhere near your boyfriend. What started out as a dispute about buying groceries ended in a screaming match about Michael’s money and success.
"OPEN THE DOOR!" He yelled. You wiped a tear away and waited for him to find the key above the door. Moments later, the door handle hit the wall as Michael stalked in.
"I don’t give a fuck how mad you are! You don’t walk away from me!" "There you go again! Telling what to do, what not to do. ‘No don’t buy groceries. I got it’. You make me feel like an idiot! As if I don’t feel bad about myself enough!"
"What do you mean?" "
You think I like having to borrow money from you because I only have a half time job? Do you think I adore each fan who tells me you could do better than me? God I feel so pathetic,” you cried into your hands. “I feel like you deserve better than me.”
Michael bit back the retort he had ready. You had fallen to your knees, still crying.
"Baby, please," he whispered as he came nearer. Michael leaned down and picked you up.
You protested and hit his chest. “Baby, that kinda hurt,” he smiled weakly. “Baby, I’m sorry. You’re not pathetic, not even close. If anything I don’t deserve you. You stay even though you’re alone too much. You do the chores and make dinner and yet you don’t bitch at me when I don’t help.” You looked at him and he wiped a tear away.
"It’s because I love you."
"I love you too. So damn much."

Luke: It was a night alone yet again since Luke was in New York for the GMA gig. You were watching something pointless when your cell phone rang.
"Hello?" You answered with a mouth full of pasta.
"Hey baby!" You could practically picture Luke’s beaming smile.
"Are you done with the gig and everything?"
"Yeah, we’re in the hotel room. Michael and Cal and Luke went to the pool."
"Why didn’t you go with them? I don’t think you’d want to listen to boring old me."
"Don’t say that, Y/N." You were taken back by the seriousness in his voice. Usually he joked when you said that but not today, you guessed. "Luke, what’s wrong?"
"Nothing. I just…babe, it bothers me so much that you’re alone right now." "I’m used to it."
"You shouldn’t have to be. You deserve someone who will hold you every night and kiss you in the morning."
You waited a second before talking again. “What brought this on, Luke?” “I saw someone today who looked like you and I started to miss you and then I started regretting leaving, and I always regret leaving you. You don’t deserve that.” You sighed. Something that you hated about Luke was how guilty he always was.
"Baby, you are so wrong. You’re the best out there." Even the sound of your soft, assuring voice soothed Luke.
"I’m sorry. Damn this just shows how undeserving I am of you. I love you so much."
"I love you too, silly." Luke hyped up after your conversation and spent the next few hours talking about how much time Michael spent flirting with the tech girl at GMA. And how she threatened to call security, almost getting them kicked out.
