Soon enough, Lori, Dorothy, and their friends made it back to the Wizard.
"Why have you returned?" the Wizard asked.
"Please, sir, we've done what you told us," Scuttle said. "We brought you the seashell necklace of the Wicked Witch of the West."
But when nobody was looking, Dorothy ran over to a curtain and opened it, revealing a man who looked like the Wizard.
"I see you have," the Wizard said. Then he saw that the curtain was open and closed it. "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain."
But Lori went over and opened the curtain again.
"Who are you?" Sebastian asked.
"Me? I am the Great and Powerful Wizard of Oz," the man replied nervously. He could tell that the group was angry, and he wanted to make it up to them, so he made a sapphire blue acoustic guitar appear and began to play and sing.
Well, open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and dream you're free
Look into your heart, and you'll find love, love, love, love
Listen to the music of the moment people dance and sing
We're just one big family
It's our unforsaken right to be loved, loved, loved, loved
So I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait
I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate
I'm yours
The gang was impressed with this. Lori couldn't sing without her voice, but she took out her violin and played along while her friends sang.
SEBASTIAN: So I guess what you've been saying is there ain't no better reason
STARR: To rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons
SCUTTLE: It's what we aim to do
ALL: Our friends are our virtue
And I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait
I'm yours
SCUTTLE: So all we're saying is just kick the vanity
Life is made for loving with your friends and family
ALL: So I won't hesitate no more, no more
It cannot wait
I'm sure
There's no need to complicate
Our time is short
This is our fate
I'm yours
WIZARD: Open up your mind and see like me
Open up your plans and dream you're free
Look into your heart, and you'll find that the sky is yours
Everyone was amazed by this—it was so magical.
"You are the Wizard of Oz!" Starr gasped.
"No, I'm just a man, but I am a man who can help," the Wizard declared. He turned to Scuttle and said, "Scuttle, you have plenty of brains. Didn't you figure out that playing music would get that witch to weaken?"
"I guess I did have some smarts after all," Scuttle smiled.
The Wizard turned to Sebastian and said, "And if you didn't have a heart, then you wouldn't care enough about Lori to go after that Witch for her."
"I suppose you're right, mon," Sebastian smiled.
The Wizard turned to Starr and asked, "And how can you be a coward if you stirred up the courage to go after that Witch for Lori?"
"Well, so much for that shy girl—I'm all about courage now," Starr smiled.
The Wizard turned to Lori and said, "Lorelei, you're so quiet—cat got your tongue?"
Dorothy meowed, thinking that joke was funny.
"No, the Wicked Witch stole her voice and put it in her necklace," Scuttle said.
"We would've broken the necklace to give her, her voice back, but we needed it for you," Starr declared.
Dorothy gave the Wizard the seashell necklace.
"Well, time for someone's needs to come first," the Wizard smiled.
The Wizard threw the seashell necklace down and broke it. That's when Lori's voice vocalized the beginning of "Part of Your World", and when the voice got into Lori's throat, she vocalized beautifully.
"Thanks a bunch," Lori smiled as Dorothy jumped into her arms.
"You're welcome, and the only way to get you and Dorothy back to Kansas is for me to take you there myself," the Wizard smiled. "You can join me in my galleon."
"Oh, thank you so much," Lori smiled.
